Elden Ring fans have been waiting on pins and needles for an official announcement on the next chapter in the franchise, holding their breath for any info on a potential sequel or massive new DLC release akin to the critically acclaimed Shadow of the Erdtree. After recent comments from FromSoftware's Hidetaka Miyazaki confirming there are unannounced projects in the works, as well as leaks suggesting a possible pirate-based Soulsborne game in the works, speculation about the next chapter in the Lands Between is going wild at the moment.

Further, with Alex Garland and A24 Film's official Elden Ring movie in the works and set images leaking online in recent months, fans are eager to see how the game will translate to the big screen. Add to all of this the recent news that the long-awaited Tarnished Edition is getting an official network test this summer and finally will be releasing in August, and hype for the franchise is as high as it's been in ages.

And in a new announcement from Bandai Namco and FromSoftware, the official new Elden Ring DLC and all its major details have officially been confirmed.

In a new post on the official Bandai Namco website, details about the official Tarnished Edition DLC for non-Switch platforms have officially been released, with details about the new classes, Torrent skin customizations, and more. While Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition will officially launch on August 28, 2026, for the Nintendo Switch 2, the additional content (aka DLC) will be available for PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, and XBOX Series X/S & XBOX One on the same date.

The Tarnished DLC will include the following, and will be available for purchase at just €4.99 (or roughly $5.69 USD):

  • 2 new starting classes – the Heavy Knight and the Idus Knight
  • 3 customization skins for Torrent, your spectral steed
  • 4 new armor sets

The new starter classes feature two exciting archetypes that fans have been speculating over for a while now, and include their own starter armor sets. The other two armor sets will be discoverable in-game, though the specific details and locations are still unavailable. Further, each armor set will include an associated weapon, meaning two new weapons will be available from the start and two will also need to be discovered in-game.

It's assumed that the Torrent skins will be available from the get as well, though it's possible these will be discoverable as well. All in all, the new Tarnished DLC for Elden Ring is a perfect excuse to start a new playthrough, and while many players have been underwhelmed about the Tarnished Edition due to the fact it's a Switch exclusive, the DLC pack will be more than enough to get fans even more hyped for things to come.
