EA breaks its silence after Iron Man gameplay leak, admitting "well, that didn't go as planned"

EA has broken its silence on the leaked Iron Man footage that surfaced yesterday, admitting, "well, that didn't go as planned".

The footage, as we reported yesterday, showed roughly two-and-a-half minutes of gameplay circulating via ResetEra, apparently taken from an "Aug26 test" build.

Now, acknowledging the leak, EA added: "But now you know, and we've got a lot more to show you. See you when we're ready."

Yesterday's leak, as Bertie explains, gives a real sense of freedom and speed as you fly around what appears to be an open-world city space and battlefields, "descending to on-foot combat and back into aerial combat in a fraction of a second".

EA Motive's Iron Man game has had a rocky, largely silent development since it was first announced four years ago, and a separate Marvel project, a Black Panther game at EA, was reportedly cancelled in the years since.

This isn't the first attempt at an Iron Man game in relatively recent memory, either. Just Cause developer Avalanche reportedly had an Iron Man game in development around 2012, with footage coincidentally leaked earlier this week.

We also saw Iron Man in Square Enix's mediocre 2020 Avengers game, which hasn't been remembered quite as fondly as its Guardians of the Galaxy game released a year later.
