With massive fanbases and sprawling careers, we’re a little surprised that it’s taken this long to get Josh Duhamel and Dylan Sprouse in a film together. Thankfully, the clock is finally ticking down on the arrival of the Ransom Canyon and Beautiful Disaster actors’ first collaboration together, and it’s going to be an explosive one. This spring, Duhamel and Sprouse will join forces with helmer David Lipper (Murder at Hollow Creek) for an all-out action-driven thrill ride in the director’s fourth foray into feature-length filmmaking with Neglected. Today, as part of Collider’s Exclusive Preview event, we’re excited to share a brand-new look at the movie by way of a snapshot and an exclusive quote from Lipper himself.

The pulse-pounding flick centers around Detective Shaw (Duhamel), who, when audiences first meet him, is ready to clock in and clock out for his last day on the job. But, instead of simply rolling with the punches and waiting for time to run down on his final day on the force, the officer is instead faced with the most important case of his career. After receiving word that his son has been abducted by a serial killer who has then buried him alive, the lawman snaps into action. Unfortunately, things are about to get much, much worse. Before he can track down his son, Detective Shaw must first solve three other brutal slayings that will put him on the path towards his child.

Our first look image sees a bloody and bruised Sprouse walking down a wooded street. Behind him, a school bus goes on its daily route, slowly creeping up behind the character who keeps his head pointed forward and continues on his walk.

In an exclusive chat with Collider, Lipper hyped his latest project and praised the talents of his leading team, revealing:

“I think audiences will be blown away by Josh Duhamel’s performance, which was especially real for him, being the dad of a teenage boy. Saving his son was all that mattered. And Dylan Sprouse is just an enormous talent whose character is so layered that we actually can sympathize with this serial killer at times.”

Joining Duhamel and Sprouse in Lipper’s nail-biting thriller is a call sheet that also includes the talents of Til Schweiger (Inglourious Basterds), Elena Sanchez (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire), Kipp Tribble (ReBroken), Jeremy London (7th Heaven), Jason London (Dazed and Confused), Corbin Pitts (True Detective), and more. In addition to helming the production, Lipper also co-penned the screenplay alongside Nicholas Ferwerda (Hunting Grounds) and Adam G. Levine (An Unexpected Killer).
