Britta DeVore is a Senior Author for Collider who has been known to dabble with Reality News as well.

Have you seen stories about 'Chucky,' 'Scream,' 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer,' 'The Boys,' 'Vanderpump Rules,' or any of 'The Real Housewives' franchises? That's probably a Britta DeVore-curated piece of art, and it sounds like you have great taste.

When she isn't sitting behind her laptop bringing readers her hot takes on upcoming projects or keeping the dream alive in the Senior News team, Britta can usually be found outside hiking or inside behind her drum set. She currently plays in two bands, Kid Midnight and Watergate, both based in Brooklyn. An obsessive traveler, Britta loves long road trips to the South West and has a soft spot in her heart for canyons, rivers, and forests.

She also has a tiny cat named Athena that she loves more than anything else in the world and is always happy for new brewery recs.

The temperatures might be dropping to freezing lows, but the action is heating up on HBO Max next month. There have been a lot of wonderful action-packed movies crashing onto screens over the last few years, so it’s more than possible that one of the streamer’s new additions for the month of February flew under your radar. Starring The Suite Life of Zack & Cody’s Dylan Sprouse and Scream’s Mason Gooding, Aftermath is everything genre fans are looking for when they’re out for some pulse-pounding, non-stop, high-octane sequences. Slated for an arrival alongside a slew of new content, Aftermath will explode onto HBO Max on February 1.

Freshly back from serving his country, ex-Army Ranger, Eric (Sprouse) is spending some time with his sister, Madeline (Megan Stott), at the beginning of Aftermath. The siblings are driving across the Tobin Memorial Bridge just outside of Boston when traffic comes to a complete halt. They don’t know it just yet, but all hell is about to break loose thanks to a group of revolutionists led by a man named Jimmy (Gooding). Over the next hour and some change, Eric becomes the only hope for the civilians now trapped on the bridge, as the revolutionists make moves to set off their bombs should the government not bow to their wishes. The project also features a leading performance from Severance star Dichen Lachman as well as supporting performances from an ensemble that includes Kevin Chapman (Rescue Me), Will Lyman (Crossbow), and Nick Apostolides (Infinite Darkness).

Backed by Voltage Pictures, Aftermath had a short, limited theatrical run at the tail end of 2024 and celebrated a duo release onto digital. It first made it onto streaming platforms early last year via Netflix, where it caught the attention of audiences around the globe. Its move to HBO Max promises to give the explosion-filled thriller a wider audience who may not have had the opportunity to catch it on the big screen.

Where You’ve Seen ‘Aftermath’s Leading Duo

With Sprouse and Gooding in the leading roles of Aftermath, the casting team successfully chose two incredibly talented and recognizable faces for the nail-biting feature. Audiences will undoubtedly recognize Sprouse as the twin brother of Riverdale’s Cole Sprouse, with the brothers getting their Hollywood start as child actors in favorites like Adam Sandler’s Big Daddy. After taking over the Disney Channel through their series, The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, the pair branched off into other projects. Along with Aftermath, Sprouse’s more recent cinematic works include The Duel, Beautiful Disaster, and Beautiful Wedding. He also recently reteamed with Gooding in Steven C. Miller’s Under Fire.

Gooding got his start thanks to early career roles in TV projects like Ballers and Love, Victor, but these days, his name is synonymous with the Scream franchise. The actor will next reprise his role as Chad Meeks-Martin in Scream 7 after originating the role in 2022’s Scream and 2023’s Scream VI. Continuing his takeover of the genre, he also recently appeared opposite Olivia Holt in Josh Ruben’s Heart Eyes.

Head over to HBO Max on February 1 to stream Aftermath.
