Dungeons & Dragons has revealed new information regarding its upcoming sourcebook, Arcana Unleashed, and its companion adventure book, Arcana Unleashed: Deadfall. Both books will release in September, ahead of the highly-anticipated World of Warcraft expansion in November. Arcana Unleashed will introduce a variety of new items, weapons, and spells to D&D 5.5e, but it'll also bring 8 new subclasses focused on the arcane arts.
In a recent press briefing, ScreenRant was given an early glimpse at the new subclasses and what kind of content to expect when the Arcana Unleashed books arrive next month. The good news is, if you're a magic user, then there's going to be a LOT of new features to get excited about. While some of these spells and subclasses aren't necessarily brand new, they are revamped to fit within the revised 2024 ruleset.
8 New Subclasses In Arcana Unleashed
The book features 47 new magic items, including the Necklace of the Beastly Familiar, which lets you turn your familiar into creatures like a hippo, octopus, or even a T-rex. That sounds pretty exciting on its own, but as with most sourcebooks, a lot of fans are likely going to be focused on the new subclasses. Those new subclasses in Arcana Unleashed are:
- Conjurer Wizard
- Enchanter Wizard
- Necromancer Wizard
- Transmuter Wizard
- Wrath of the Mystic Arts (Monk)
- Arcana Domain Cleric
- Arcane Archer Fighter
- Vestige Patron Warlock
A lot of these sound pretty great, but I'm personally excited to give Wrath of the Mystic Arts a try with my monk. The Arcane Archer Fighter sounds interesting as well, and if you're already a fan of magic users in D&D campaigns, then there's likely a lot of stuff in Arcana Unleashed that you'll love.
Arcana Unleashed Releases In September 2026
Arcana Unleashed releases globally on September 15, 2026. However, early access begins on September 1, 2026. Check with your local hobby store about early access, or pre-order digitally with D&D Beyond. The companion adventure book, Arcana Unleashed: Deadfall, also releases on the same dates.
In addition to the new subclasses coming our way, fans can also expect to see 33 new or revised spells and over 40 new weapons and items added thanks to the Arcana Unleashed books. If you're looking to get your hands on the latest Dungeons & Dragons books, pre-orders for both are live now.
