Funcom turned up to the June 2026 PlayStation State of Play with a bit of a surprise: a release date for Dune: Awakening on PS5 and a new single-player mode. Dune: Awakening will be released on September 22, and its single-player mode launches alongside it.

Dune: Awakening's PS5 version will include all the updates Funcom's made since the game originally launched back in summer 2025. That includes quality-of-life things like expanded storage and better ways to recover your vehicles if you get separated from them, alongside welcome changes to how you can store and back up your base. Bugs that plagued the game at launch are also gone now, so no more getting stranded naked and alone if a worm eats you.

The PS5 version will also include bigger additions, such as new story chapters and specializations for your chosen path, additional maps, and combat zones with customization options. The latter, and the gear you get from clearing the zones, are Dune: Awakening's endgame, something it didn't really have at launch.

Funcom has released DLC packs between launch and now, which primarily included cosmetics like color swatches for your outfits and vehicle variations. However, despite calling the PS5 launch the game's "definitive edition," the studio didn't say whether these packs will be included. Funcom also didn't say much about Dune: Awakening's single-player mode and how it compares to the MMO-style version, but expect to hear more details ahead of that Sept. 22 launch.
