Kendrick's Super Bowl performance was branded the 'worst halftime show ever' by fans – a feat that was celebrated by his rap rival Drake, insiders claim.
Toronto-born Drake and multi Grammy winner Kendrick have been embroiled in a furious rivalry for years, despite collaborating on each other's records in the early days of their careers.
Drake had desperately tried to prevent Lamar from performing his scathing diss track Not Like Us, in which he refers to the Canadian as a 'certified paedophile,' to 83,000 fans at Sunday night's game.
He had reportedly banned his close friends from watching the set and refused to talk about it.
But despite his failure to veto the track, he was 'happy' that viewers tuning in at home were less than impressed by Lamar's performance.
'Drake put his friends on a Super Bowl ban and did not tune into the show,' an insider told DailyMail.com. 'He was not able to stop Not Like Us from being played and wasn't happy about it.
'He knows it resonated with Kendrick's target audience who have basically exiled him.
'But he is happy that people weren't impressed by Kendrick's performance and is feeling better about his chances of a comeback - even if he does feel that he has lost some of his core fans.'

Fans blasted the show on social media, with one writing: 'Worst halftime show ever not a fan.'
'I genuinely can't tell if I'm being biased against Kendrick but I think this is the worst halftime show I've seen in a minute,' another added.
'I thought The Weekend was bad but Kendrick Lamar took that spot! Worst half time show ever!' echoed a third.
Another said: 'Somehow Kendrick is worse than the game itself.'
Pulitzer prize winning Kendrick had a surprise introduction from actor Samuel L. Jackson, 76, who was dressed up as 'Uncle Sam' before he performed a medley of his hits which saw him joined on stage at New Orleans' Caesars Superdome by R&B singer SZA, 35.
Despite Drake recently suing his and Kendrick's record label, Universal Music Group, over the controversial Not Like Us, Kendrick performed the song, but he omitted the accusation.
UMG issued a statement repudiating Drake's allegations at the time, stating: 'Not only are these claims untrue, but the notion that we would seek to harm the reputation of any artist — let alone Drake — is illogical.'
Kendrick made reference to the lawsuit before launching into the track, telling the crowd: 'I want to perform their favourite song, but you know they love to sue.'
The Pulitzer Prize winner took a swipe at his hip hop rival Drake during the performance as he performed his diss track Not Like Us
But he did deliver two other controversial lines, including 'Say Drake, I hear you like them young' and 'trying to strike a chord and it's probably a minor.'
He also wore a big silver chain pendant with a small letter 'a', an apparent reference to 'A minor' in the lyrics.
Tennis champion Serena Williams, who was once romantically linked to Drake, was pictured dancing during the song.
Drake attacked her husband Alexis Ohanian in the 2022 song, Middle Of The Ocean, rapping: 'Sidebar, Serena, your husband a groupie / He claim we don't got a problem but / No boo, it is like you coming for sushi.'
Since things turned sour, both rappers have continued to release numerous diss tracks about each other.
However, the feud entered new territory last May when Kendrick dropped Not Like Us.
It was released on YouTube with what appeared to be a graphic of Drake's home covered with red sex offender symbols.
In the lyrics, the Pulitzer Prize winner hit out at the hitmaker and members of his October's Very Own (OVO) crew.
'Say Drake, I hear you like 'em young,' he raps, encouraging others to 'hide your little sister from him.'
He continues: 'Why you trollin' like a b****, ain't you tired? You're tryin' to strike a chord and it's probably A minor.'
The song became the first ever 'beef song' to win a coveted award at the Grammys last weekend taking home Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
