UPDATE 5.46pm: An official post on Steam has revealed new details about Capcom's plans for Dragon's Dogma 2 beyond the DLC. The base game is getting a permanent discount from 24th June, with certain DLC items being discontinued (probably the highly criticised consumable item packs). Moreover, two large updates will "enhance the gameplay experience of the base game". The first one arrives tomorrow, 10th June.
The original story continues below.
All the fan theories were correct: Dragon's Dogma 2 is getting an expansion later this year... plus a Nintendo Switch 2 port.
Capcom surprise-announced the Switch 2 port of Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen - yes, the expanded version directly borrows its title from the original - during today's Nintendo Direct.
No further details were shared, but the Dark Arisen DLC will open up a new snowy area as suggested by Capcom's sneaky teases. Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen will come out on 9th October on Switch 2, with the PC (Steam), PS5, and Xbox Series X/S versions getting the DLC on the same date.
The announcement of such an ambitious port also raises a number of questions regarding performance, as Dragon's Dogma 2 was particularly heavy on current-gen hardware, but it doesn't come as an absolute shock following other high-profile third-party ports. It follows the just-announced Monster Hunter Wilds and Onimusha ports from Capcom.
Stay tuned for more details as they arrive.
