Last month, Dragon Ball sent its ever-growing fan base into a frenzy with the official announcement of Dragon Ball Super's return. The upcoming Galactic Patrol saga will mark the series' first new TV anime in eight years, while Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, scheduled to air in 2026, will kick off a full remake series of sorts.
Now, a new, hidden update on the official Dragon Ball website is telling fans to stay tuned for further "Super" updates.
Dragon Ball Teases Its Next "Super" Return
The Official Dragon Ball Website Is Teasing Major Future Updates
The official Dragon Ball website has chronicled the recent 40th anniversary event in Tokyo in detail, sharing images and descriptions of all reveals, as well as illustrations and life-sized character statues that were on display. The event gave fans their first detailed look into the franchise's future as Dragon Ball enters a new era without its iconic creator.
However, as first reported by X-user Venixys, a news entry was quietly added telling fans to continue looking out for updates. It reads:
"Super" new developments will continue to unfold well beyond the 40th anniversary of Dragon Ball, so stay tuned!
Such an announcement wouldn't typically raise many eyebrows. An IP as massive and consistently profitable as Dragon Ball will always have projects in the works and something new to reveal. However, it's the addition of "Super", placed in not very low-key quotation marks, that's causing some excitement among fans.
As of now, barring any unexpected movie productions or anime-original projects, all Dragon Ball Super anime productions are accounted for in the upcoming Galactic Patrol saga and remake series. Which is leading to speculation that it may finally be time for the manga to return.
New Dragon Ball Teaser May Be Hinting at the Manga's Long-Awaited Return
Custom Image by Zach ZamoraSince Akira Toriyama's passing, the Dragon Ball Super manga has remained on an extended hiatus with little sign of returning, and the series was suspiciously held out from any of the 40th anniversary reveals last month. Illustrator Toyotaro was also absent from any of the event's stages and ceremonies.
If the website's teaser relates to Dragon Ball Super, it's likely any upcoming announcements will address the manga, which has retained its spot in the monthly V Jump lineup despite its inactivity. Dragon Ball Super was co-written by Akira Toriyama and Toyotaro, and it's currently unknown whether the series' illustrator will fully take on the writing role when the series returns.
