The Dragon Ball franchise is still one of the most instantly recognizable anime out there, with no shortage of unique stories and fan-favorite characters. Although fans of the Dragon Ball series haven't exactly been starved for content over the years, with a plethora of games and new anime projects to look forward to, there's one series that we've been waiting for decades to see realized at this point.
Thankfully, while it hasn't been officially announced just yet, a new rumor from a reliable source is suggesting that the wait for one of Dragon Ball's most highly anticipated crossovers is finally nearing its end, and you won't even have to ask Shenron for it.
According to the LEGO leaker BrickTap on Reddit, Dragon Ball fans will not only be getting the release of the LEGO Icons Shenron set dropping in November, but the series is also being adapted into a full-blown LEGO theme in 2027.
While there aren't too many details about what the upcoming sets will end up being just yet, the rumor suggests that the first wave will be based on the ever-popular Dragon Ball Z era of the franchise, which is reportedly also receiving plenty of new molds in order to properly incorporate the characters' designs into minifigure form.
Given that Dragon Ball has seen a plethora of fantastic fan-made LEGO Ideas creations over the years, it's not too surprising to see an iconic character like Shenron get its own set alongside a handful of minifigures based on some other characters from the beloved series, but the concept of a full-blown reveal is something fans have been dreaming about for decades at this point.
While it will certainly be interesting to compare the leaked LEGO Rayquaza build to the upcoming $150-200 Shenron set, given their similar body types, the series has no shortage of legendary characters, familiar locations, and iconic moments to adapt into a buildable form.
There have also clearly been some Dragon Ball fans within several of the biggest LEGO teams as well, as the anime has been referenced countless times across a multitude of LEGO franchises, including Monkie Kid, LEGO NINJAGO, and most recently, with a few hidden Easter eggs in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight.
Although we'll have to wait and see how well the Dragon Ball series translates to its brick-based form, it also gives us hope that we'll see even more LEGO versions of our favorite anime franchises soon enough.
