Now that Dragon Age: The Veilguard is in a staple place, BioWare has shared they have no further plans for major updates to the game. Despite releasing just last October, this new entry into the Dragon Age franchise has seen some mixed reviews from fans and overall lacked the player numbers that EA anticipated. With some players adoring the game's new styling and others reminiscing on the past, the game is in quite a peculiar spot all around.

After the release of Dragon Age: The Veilguard's final update, Patch 5, BioWare's patch notes to be bidding farewell to the game with any future content updates. Despite not being completely clear, the update's inclusion of thanking fans for picking up the game and a concluding "Dareth shiral!" set the tone that this is it. While the game was only released a few months back, its success has been less than anticipated, potentially leaving the game abandoned sooner than anticipated.

BioWare Says Goodbye To Dragon Age: The Veilguard Major Updates

The Game Is Fully Complete

With the game's newest update including a few bug fixes and the helpful addition of recommended levels, it seems like this is it for Dragon Age: The Veilguard. With BioWare expressing that the game is now in a "stable place", it would seem they've decided to leave it in the best place possible as the team moves on to new things. That's not to say this news isn't disappointing, however, as many have been eager for more from this new entry into the franchise.

Director Of Dragon Age The Veilguard Has Left EA & BioWare

A few months after the release of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, the game's director Corrine Busche, is leaving BioWare and EA to work on a new project.

While players were already aware that Dragon Age: The Veilguard would not be receiving any DLC, it still seems very soon for the game to be completed without further updates. Perhaps due to the recent news that EA anticipated over 3 million players in the first 2 months and hit just 1.5, it would indicate that the game just can't be BioWare's focus any longer. While it's not completely clear that this is the end, it does seem rather unlikely for the latest update to have thanked fans and bid farewell if the team were planning to deliver more.

What Could This Mean For Mass Effect 5?

Dragon Age: The Veilguard Isn't A Distraction For BioWare Anymore

As Dragon Age: The Veilguard is no longer BioWare's biggest focus, it goes without saying that the new game in the Mass Effect series is probably the next big thing. Without any more updates for the game and its full release for players to enjoy, the team can instead focus their energy fully on what this new adventure will entail. While players already know the game has begun development, it doesn't seem to be anywhere near ready for more to be revealed at this time.

Since sharing a short 30-second trailer for Mass Effect 5, BioWare has kept players relatively in the dark about the new offering in the franchise. With just a few snippets of information that eager-eyed players have grabbed, players have deduced the story is likely to incorporate both elements of the trilogy and Mass Effect: Andromeda. With plenty more still to be discovered, this next step could be the beginning of Mass Effect 5's new era and the end of Dragon Age: The Veilguard's.
