"The Treasure of Sharksmouth Mountain" is a hidden quest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard that you can complete for many rare rewards by discovering a secret cache of loot. The treasure you unlock contains Gold, important resources, and new gear to make your character stronger. However, to obtain this quest's bounty, you'll have to solve a mysterious riddle regarding four famous warriors.
Similar to unlocking secret areas of the Lighthouse, you have to use specific companion abilities to solve parts of a puzzle in this quest. At the very least, you need Lucanis' Spite skill to open up new paths within Sharksmouth Mountain. Leveling up the bonds with individual companions can help you in the long run by giving them more abilities to assist you inside and outside battle.
Where To Find The Treasure Of Sharksmouth
Advance One Companion's Side Quests
Before you even know how to find Sharksmouth Mountain, you have to advance the personal side quests of the character Taash. This will eventually allow you to start "The Treasure of Sharksmouth Mountain" by traveling to the Rivain Coast area. Once the mission is unlocked, your map will mark this location as a point of interest for your party to visit.

Why You Should Play A Qunari In Dragon Age: The Veilguard
Out of the four possible lineages in Dragon Age: The Veilguard's character customization, the Qunari are the series’ most iconic and elusive.
Head to a section of the Rivain Coast called The Lair of the Dragon King to continue pursuing this quest. Here, you will explore Sharksmouth Mountain and its ruins, eventually taking on a powerful boss tied to Taash's ongoing personal story. Once you take down this boss, return to the Lair and explore the Lava Caves until you come across a door with two massive statues guarding it.
You'll be able to start "The Treasure of Sharksmouth Mountain" faster if you find a companion gift in Dragon Age: The Veilguard for Taash fast. Giving Taash their favorite gift item will significantly improve your bond with them, allowing them to bring up their side quest sooner.
Going near the door will give you a new objective to "Solve the statue puzzle," which leads you to another section of the Lava Caves. This area has four distinct statues of famous warriors, all with levers that can adjust what direction each statue faces. On a nearby Inscribed Shield on the ground or the previous door you saw, you can read a special riddle that begins the key puzzle of this quest.
How To Solve The Treasure Of Sharksmouth Puzzle
Use Clues To Figure Out Each Statue's Position
When you read the riddle regarding the four warrior statues in Sharksmouth Mountain, it says:
"Four knights rode into battle. One fired unto the rightward flank, her arrows a steel rain. One lingered, their shield behind to guard all's back. One went boldly to the fore, her sword thrust forward unto the foe. One crept upon the leftward flank, his hammer a harvest reaped."
Each verse of the riddle gives you a clue about which statue represents each Knight. You need to position each Knight statue in the directions they were facing in the riddle's "battle" to solve the puzzle. Although you could just keep trying different directions for every statue until you eventually get it right, you can search the Lava Caves for more clues regarding which Knight is which.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard - How To Unlock The Warden Vault
The Warden Vault is a Rivain Region Quest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. To enter the vault and claim its treasures, Rook must activate three seals.
To figure out how to position each statue, follow the four quest markers deeper into the ruins to discover who each Knight was. As you pursue this side quest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, you'll learn about each Knight by discovering larger statues of them by following these steps:
Ser Rian, the Red | In the far corner of the area, you can destroy some Blight Boils to reveal this Knight's other statue. | "One fired unto the rightward flank, her arrows a steel rain." |
Ser Dheon, the Silent | Go to the ruined building, where you can see multiple Blight Boil growths on its roof. A small room you can enter once these obstacles are destroyed reveals a clue about who this Knight was. | "One went boldly to the fore, her sword thrust forward unto the foe." |
Ser Ifean Beloved of the Moon | Use Lucanis' Spite ability to open a rift and reveal a path across the lava pit of the area's caves. Crossing the gorge will reveal more clues about this Knight's role in the battle. | "One lingered, their shield behind to guard all's back." |
Ser Cruach the Wolf | Use Harding's ability in Dragon Age: The Veilguard to raise stone platforms that lead toward the path of another statue depicting this Knight. | "One crept upon the leftward flank, his hammer a harvest reaped." |
After doing this, you can read each statue in the main puzzle room to deduce who should be facing where. For example, because the second statue of Ser Rian the Red you found showed them wielding a bow, you can figure out that they are the ones who fired arrows on the rightward flank of the riddle's battle. This means that Rian's statue should be facing to the right.
While Ser Cruach and Ser Rian's direction is easy to figure out, Ser Ifean should be facing forward to protect their allies, while Ser Dheon should be facing the wall to emulate attacking enemies directly.
Each statue should be in the below positions to open the door:
- 1st Statue - Facing Forward or Front
- 2nd Statue - Facing the Back Wall
- 3rd Statue - Facing Right
- 4th Statue - Facing Left
When every statue faces the right direction, you can return to the first door in the Lava Caves that initiated this quest. The door will now be open, leading to a secret room where you can collect several rare treasures as a reward for solving the puzzle.
