Dragon Age: The Veilguard sees you recruit many companions, whose Bond Levels can improve when you give them gifts from various locations around the regions you explore. Giving someone a gift deepens Rook's relationship with them, allowing greater insight into their character and making them perform better in battle. Those looking to initiate romance will also make great progress by giving a companion their favorite gift.
No matter what companion party combos you use in DA: The Veilguard, you'll want to increase everyone's Bond Levels to unlock more companion skill points. This can help give companions new abilities to help your party in tough combat situations. Improving a relationship with a certain character could also unlock unique side quests tied to them, giving you a chance to learn about who they are.
Where To Find Every Companion Gift In Dragon Age: The Veilguard
Search Specific Areas Unlocked Through The Story
Since it's practically impossible to pursue a romance with anyone until you find their favorite gift, you should check with vendors in every major settlement to find unique items with seemingly no other purpose. Every companion has one unique item they would love to receive as a gift, making it hard to know what to get. However, you can pay attention to their dialogue when talking to them to get hints regarding their best possible gift.

The emotional connections formed with NPCs in games like Dragon Age: The Veilguard can significantly enhance the immersion and depth of the game.
Gifts are sold by Faction Merchants, so a companion's favorite gift is likely tied to which faction they belong to. For example, Davrin is associated with the Grey Wardens faction, who usually reside in the Hossberg Wetlands. Even if you get this clue from talking to this companion between missions, you can assume that the merchant in the Hossberg Wetlands may carry Davrin's favorite gift item.
Even with all the context clues, it may still be hard to know which items in a vendor's store can be given as gifts to companions. To make sure you aren't giving a possible romantic interest the wrong gift, here's every companion's favorite item to be given, and where you can find each:
Bellara | Elven Frog Figurine | Arthalan Forest | Purchase from the Veil Jumper Merchant at the Veil Jumper Camp area for 70 Gold and 10 Flawless Crystals. |
Davrin | Display On Ancient Griffins | Hossberg Wetlands | Purchase from the Merchant in this location for 90 Gold and 10 Flawless Crystals. |
Emmrich | Haunted Statuette | Grand Necropolis, Lower Hollow Belfry | Purchase from the Necropolis Halls Merchant named Vorgoth for 60 Gold and 10 Flawless Crystals. |
Harding | Hinterland Oak | Dock Town | Complete "The Black Emporium" quest to unlock a Merchant in an area with the same name as the mission. You can buy this gift occasionally from this Merchant for 3 Etheric Remnants in DA: The Veilguard. |
Lucanis | Antivan Tea Set | Treviso | Purchase from the Treviso faction Merchant at The Centori Diamond location for 90 Gold and 10 Flawless Crystals. |
Neve | Collected Evidence | Dock Town | Depending on whether you saved Minrathous or Treviso in DA: The Veilguard, this item can be purchased from the Shadow Dragons faction Merchant at the Pawn Shop for 70 Gold and 10 Flawless Crystals. |
Taash | Priceless Ancient Trinket | Hall of Valor, Lower Concourse | Purchase from the Hall of Valor Merchant from The Lords of Fortune faction for 90 Gold and 10 Flawless Crystals. |
As you can see, you need a lot of Gold and Flawless Crystals to purchase gifts. You can earn both of these currencies by completing side quests or selling junk items your party no longer has any use for as you progress. You'll need to unlock many of the locations where companion gifts can be found by simply moving through story events long enough to make different regions available to explore.
Buying any gift item unlocks a companion side quest where you can give that character what you just bought. You can only give companions gifts in the Lighthouse area, so make sure you have the right object in your inventory when you return to that location. Whenever you approach a companion when you have their gift, all you need to do is press the "Give Gift" option to start a short cutscene with them.
The side quest tied to a companion ends when the cutscene does, where your Bond Level with that NPC also increases. Bonds improve by a quarter of a full Level when companions receive a gift, leading to steady progress in that relationship. Once you find the locations of all the gifts you can give a companion in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, you'll get much closer to a romance or simply stronger abilities for your favorite party members.
