Donald Trump Says No Staffer Has Been Fired For Posting Video With Racist Obama Clip

Donald Trump said that a staffer has not been fired in the fallout after a video was posted to the president’s Truth Social account that featured a racist clip depicting Barack and Michelle Obama as apes.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Trump defended the overall video and he has not apologized for it.

“That was a video on, as you know, voter fraud,” Trump said. It was “a fairly long video that had a little piece that had to do with The Lion King. It’s been very well, it’s been shown all over the place, long before that was posted.”

He said that it was a “very strong piece on voter fraud, and the piece you were talking about was all over the place many times, I believe for years.”

The video was posted nearly a week ago, and White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt defended its posting in a statement last Friday morning. But some Republicans on Capitol Hill called for it to be taken down, including Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), who called it the “most racist thing I’ve been out of this White House.”

The White House then took down the post, blaming a staffer. That individual has not been disclosed, and later on Friday Trump said that he ordered that the video be posted to his account.

“I look at a lot of, thousands of things, I looked at the beginning of it, it was fine,” Trump said last week.
