DJI may not be completely dead to the U.S. market, after all. Based on a leaked video, DJI still has plans to launch a new version of its ultra-popular miniature vlogging camera built for creators. The sequel to the Osmo Pocket 3 gimbal-based camera may sport all-new luminous features and a price point that will have even the most die-hard DJI fan wincing.
New Camera first spotted a video posted to Instagram that was supposedly shot inside a DJI-authorized store in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. As the story goes, a person walked into the store holding a DJI Osmo Pocket 4 and let the individual in question take a video using it. The creator reportedly took down the video after he published it to social media, though New Camera claims it snagged it before the erasure. There’s more than one reason to be skeptical about this kind of report. However, DJI’s products do tend to launch early in Southeast Asia. Early hands-on of the then unannounced original DJI Neo drone first stemmed from a DJI store in Malaysia.

So while you should take these leaked videos with a grain of salt, there’s still a lot to mull over. The supposed Osmo Pocket 4 looks very close in appearance to the Osmo Pocket 3. It still sports a gimbal-mounted camera with an accompanying, flip-up 2-inch touchscreen. The new version features what appears to be a zoom button and a mysterious “C” button laid over the record button and thumbstick used for panning and tilting. The new camera also seems to have a longer stem than Osmo Pocket 3, along with a new, grippier base.
The most obvious change from the Pocket 3 is the inclusion of a large built-in LED light on top of the gimbal. This could prove useful for when you’re shooting in low-light situations. I can personally imagine it could be handy when trawling through the dim environs of the Las Vegas Convention Center during CES. The video shows the maybe-real, maybe-not-real Osmo Pocket 4 shooting in “Super Photo” mode at 33 megapixels.
Now the real question: is it coming to the U.S.?
The Osmo Pocket 4 may have two new buttons, a grippier base, and a longer stem compared to the Osmo Pocket 3 pictured here. © DJIThe new camera could also push its shooting capabilities past the Pocket 3’s limit of 4K at 120 fps. New Camera cites a since-removed Amazon Denmark listing that the Osmo Pocket 4 could hit 240 fps at 4K. That would be fine for most vlogs, though some users hope DJI pushes the resolution up to 5K or 6K. Based on these leaks, the camera will maintain the 1-inch CMOS sensor plus a slightly improved battery. Based on these listings, the new camera could cost between $550 and $700, depending on your choice of bundles that could come with extra batteries and accessories. The original Osmo Pocket 3 launched for $520; the price increased to $800 last May when Trump slapped tariffs on many goods.
New Camera has also spotted U.S. regulatory listings for a supposed “DJI Osmo Pocket 4 Pro.” Leaked images suggest this beefier model will have dual lenses—the secondary one for extra zoom, similar to the combo on some DJI drones. The fact that it shows up with an FCC (Federal Communications Commission) ID has fans hopeful the camera may be able to skirt the current restrictions on DJI products in the U.S. Current FCC regulations block DJI from importing any new drones that didn’t receive approval before December of last year. If DJI managed to squeak in the Osmo Pocket 4 before the ban, then it may have the means of bringing it to U.S. suppliers. DJI would still have to manage Trump’s tariffs—hence the higher price tag.
DJI has communicated with Gizmodo that it’s working to send us products that are available in the U.S. for review, such as the DJI Osmo 360 camera. It’s clear that there will be future drone and camera products that won’t make their way past Uncle Sam’s anti-DJI dragnet.
