The DJI Mini 4K has been our favorite drone for beginners for a while now, but the Chinese brand has just released a brand new sub-249g contender in the form of the DJI Lito 1.

The new model features a larger sensor, more flight time, and better obstacle detection, so it's an easy choice, right? Well, unfortunately, it's not that simple.

Is it worth waiting for the new drones?

The Lito is a direct upgrade to the Mini 4K, so we're expecting the Mini to be discontinued in favor of the new model. As of writing, I haven't seen any listings for the Lito or Lito X1, so it's hard to say if or when they'll be available.

We'll likely see third-party sellers and importers offer both drones in the near future, but they could be a little pricier than the Mini 4k. For reference, the Lito starts at £299 / AU$539 in the UK and Australia, respectively.

In the meantime, I highly recommend checking out our freshly published DJI Lito X1 review. We awarded the higher-end model a full five stars out of five, and you can also see plenty of sample footage from the drone's excellent 1/1.3-inch sensor.
