Tom Holland's Dad Shares Secrets Behind His Proposal to Zendaya
Tom Holland wove the perfect engagement for Zendaya.
Less than a week after the Spider-Man actress debuted a 5-carat diamond ring on her left ring finger at the 2025 Golden Globes, Tom's father Dominic Holland confirmed the couple's engagement, sharing a few parts about the special day, including one important detail.
"Tom, as you know by now was very incredibly well prepared," Dominic wrote in a Patreon post on Jan. 10, noting that not only had Tom purchased the ring, but he had spoken with Zendaya's father, Kazembe Ajamu Coleman, and "gained permission to propose to his daughter."
"Tom had everything planned out," his father added. "When, where, how, what to say, what to wear…"
Dominic contrasted Tom's preparedness with his own lack of prep when he proposed to Tom's mother Nikki Holland 1993, joking he "was woefully ill-prepared, almost as though I wasn't taking it seriously," as he hadn't talked to her family or even gotten a ring.
But all of Tom's preparation clearly paid off, as Zendaya certainly seemed thrilled to flash her Jessica McCormack designed rock. The Los Angeles Times noted in a Jan. 5 article that one of their reporters at the Golden Globes held up her own left ring finger and pointed at it, while Zendaya responded by showing off her rock. But when she was asked about her engagement directly, she simply shrugged and smiled.

The ring was on display again days later when she attended a Jan. 7 screening of her film Challengers in West Hollywood.
And while Tom and Zendaya, both 28, have not publicly commented on their engagement yet, they have been flooded with congratulations, including one from their Spider-Man costar Marisa Tomei.
The My Cousin Vinny actress—who played Aunt May in the franchise—posted a photo of Zendaya and Tom at the 2021 Spider-Man: No Way Home Los Angeles premiere, adding a kiss emoji and writing, "Congrats you two, xoxo."
The couple—whose romance went public in 2021—have kept a low profile throughout their romance, although Tom recently shared his thoughts on the future and what he hopes for when it comes to raising a family.

"When I have kids, you will not see me in movies anymore," Tom told Men's Health in an interview published Jan. 2. "Golf and dad. And I will just disappear off the face of the earth."
He also explained why he and Zendaya keep their red carpet appearances so few and far between, saying he wants to make sure the woman he calls "my lady" has her time to shine for her projects.
"It's not my moment, it's her moment," he said. "And if we go together, it's about us."
But that doesn't mean the Marvel costars haven't given fans some adorable moments over the years. Keep reading to see their love story unfold.
