Combining the dark settings of the Diablo franchise with the combat reminiscent of Dark Souls, this upcoming action-adventure RPG title will see you "survive the ruins together—or lose everything you carry."
Set to release fully in Q4 of 2026, Expedition: Into Darkness is an upcoming medieval co-op extraction shooter which will task players with braving forbidden dungeons by crafting weapons and joining forces with up to four allies. If you survive each run, you will walk away with untold riches. However, if you should fall, you will lose everything.
Developed by Antediluvian Interactive, Expedition: Into Darkness is now available to check out courtesy of a free Steam demo, allowing you to get a taste of the time whilst also providing valuable feedback to its developers. However, if you are still not convinced, let us take a look at a bit more of what this extraction RPG has to offer.
Begin your journey on foreboding grounds above ancient, mysterious ruins. Driven by an insatiable thirst for glory, power, and untold riches, you will battle innumerable deadly creatures and uncover dark secrets as you pursue your damned ambitions.
In Expedition: Into Darkness, you will get to team up with your friends or, if you are brave enough, enter the darkness alone. By gathering resources, you will be able to assemble your weapons from scratch, including swords, maces, axes, polearms, spears, bows, or crossbows. Which weapon you approach each run with is entirely up to you.
Not only that, but if you are a fan of customization in your RPGs, look no further, as Expedition: Into Darkness players will be able to customize their gear with materials, tints, and liveries.
As mentioned, each death means a clean slate, so if you want to keep ahold of your loot, you will have to play carefully and get out alive. If you should escape, however, you will be able to upgrade your gear and even your base of operations to make your next run all the more fruitful.
With nightmarish creatures, deadly traps, unstable structures, hidden drops, and toxic gasses to contend with, Expedition: Into Darkness will fully test out your survival skills, but with the ability to reach beyond the Empyrean to make deals with dark gods in exchange for forbidden power, will you make the sacrifice even though it may come at a price?
As mentioned, Expedition: Into Darkness fully launches later this year, but you can check out its demo for free right now!
