Festival of the Lost is back in Destiny 2, and as players mourn fallen Guardians, they can also collect some Candy for awesome rewards. There are only a few ways to gather this event currency, and this year, there are more ways than ever to spend it. To get started, you'll need to head to the tower to talk to everyone's favorite holiday grandma, Eva Levante.
Like every year, Eva is stationed in the middle of the Tower, so head there to get your event quest and unlock her bounties. She'll tell you about Haunted Sectors and also give you your festival mask. This mask is required for you to collect Candy, so unless you've got one in your vault from previous years, don't dismantle it.
How To Get Candy
It's Time To Hunt Those Pumpkin-Headed Bosses
It's perhaps unsurprising that you gather Candy by playing the event activity, but unlike when farming Silver Leaves for the Guardian Games, there's no special cheese to stocking your Candy Coffers faster. You gain Candy by killing enemies while wearing your Festival Mask helmet, so any activity with high add-density will make for good Candy generation.
While you're in the Tower, climb up the trees behind Eva and in front of Ikora to collect some free Candy.
I tried the Suro Chi farm that people like for catalyst completion, but with only about 30-40 adds spawning and each "run" taking around two minutes, the numbers still don't compare to running a Haunted Sector. For every Suro Chi run, I got around 20-25 Candy, while with Haunted Sectors, I would net anywhere from 70-90. The Haunted Sectors take a little longer, around 5:30 if you're not farming Headless Ones, so just running simple Haunted Sectors is the way to go.
If you want to increase your efficiency, you can farm Headless Ones in the final boss phase of the sector. As you clear them, you'll notice that they drop five to seven Candies per each instead of the usual one that a red-bar enemy drops. If you ignore the boss during DPS of the Sector, you can keep Headless Ones spawning, maximizing the number of Candies you'll get for that run.

Destiny 2: How To Get the Ice Breaker Exotic Sniper Rifle
Yet another beloved exotic from Destiny 1 is now officially back in Destiny 2. Earn Ice Breaker by beating Bungie's newest dungeon, Vesper's Host.
That being said, this will take longer, so there's a balance between running Sectors quickly and farming candies, but it all seems to even out in the end. If you can't get a fireteam together to run the Haunted Sectors and farm the Headless Ones, just running them normally with a matchmade fireteam will do you just fine.
You can also pick up event bounties from Eva in the Tower. She offers weekly (+250 Candy), daily (+30 Candy), and repeatable bounties (+20 Candy), and with each of them offering some amount of Candy as a reward, they're worth picking up. Before you load into any Haunted Sectors, grab as many of these as you think you can get done for another boost of Candy earnings. Interestingly, however, there's a quicker way to pick up Candy without needing to do any bounties.
Best Candy Farm in Festival of the Lost
Surprisingly, It's Not The Event Activity
As mentioned, any activity will drop Candies as you defeat enemies, but some also reward Candy upon completion. Though it got nerfed a bit recently, this Prismatic Warlock build still clears enemies with no issue, so consider trying it out as you begin your farm. The event type that gives you the most Candy between enemy-dropped candy and completion reward candy is actually Heroic Public events. xHOUNDISHx on YouTube reveals that the best way to farm Candy right now is to spend a lot of time on the location with the highest Public Event density: the EDZ.
That's right; it's time to return to Devrim's domain and knock out some Heroic Public events with anyone who might be around. Whether you're solo or with a fireteam, Heroic Public events are easy to complete and reward a cool 185 Candy per completion. This doesn't include any Candy picked up from enemies, so you should net anywhere from 200-300 Candy per event with both sets of Candy together.
The EDZ is the best location for farming because of how often Public Events show up here. It's a large enough space that there's almost always one up, so you can spend your time traveling from one to another to gather your currency. Once you've grabbed enough Candy or get tired of running Public Events, you can return to Eva to cash in your winnings.
How Can Candy Be Spent?
Buy Exotic Class Items Or Roll For An Event Weapon
Perhaps the most exciting use for Candy this year is that it can be used to purchase Exotic Class Items from Eva in the tower. This will set you back 2,500 Candy and one Eerie Engram, so you'll need to grind a bit, but it's still a much more efficient way to earn the item than by running Dual Destiny over and over. Make sure you are attuned to whichever Destiny 2's exotic aspect you're most interested in by talking to your Ghost in the Pale Heart's Tower before buying anything from Eva.
This is nice for solo players, as Dual Destiny must be played with another Guardian. Previously, if you were a solo player, there was no way to unlock the Exotic Class Items without braving the harsh frontiers of LFG. Thankfully, Bungie devs recognized what a bummer this barrier was for many Guardians and added the items into Eva's catalog this year.
As for the event weapons, you'll have a few to choose from. The new weapon this year is Arcane Embrace, a Heavy Burst Arc Shotgun. Heavy Burst shotguns release a two-round blast, both hitting hard and reducing flinch while aiming. Here are the perks it can roll:
Air Trigger | Closing Time |
Fourth Time’s The Charm | Desperado |
Grave Robber | Precision Instrument |
Lone Wolf | Surrounded |
Slideshot | Swashbuckler |
Dual Loader | Voltshot |
Threat Detector | Tap The Trigger |
Whether you're content to run Haunted Sectors or would rather spend your time galivanting around the EDZ, you should have very little trouble gathering Candy during this Festival of the Lost season. The event is scheduled to run for the next three weeks, ending at reset on November 19th at 9:00 am PST. Go forth and hunt Headless Ones, and don't forget to pick up bounties from Eva for some extra rewards.
