‘Destination X’ Renewed For Season 2 At NBC

EXCLUSIVE: A new group of hopefuls will set out on the road hunting for clues to help them win $250,000 after Destination X was renewed for a second season at NBC.

The broadcast network is currently casting for the sophomore season, which is hosted by The Walking Dead and The Boys star Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

The first season premiered in May 2025 and got off to a promising start; it averaged 14 million viewers across linear and streaming in its first 26 days. NBC said that as well as being the top alternative series launch on Peacock, it was the No. 1 new show of last summer and reached 20M viewers across all platforms over its 10-episode run.

The show, which sees contestants embarking on a road trip with no idea of their location, was helped by the introduction of a number of reality stars such as Love Island USA’s JaNa Craig and The Traitors’ Peter Weber.

Contestants have to figure out their mystery location from a blacked-out Destination X bus with challenges designed to offer clues as to their location, along with a few misdirects to keep them guessing. At the end of each episode, the contestant who places an X on a map farthest from the actual location packs their bags. The first participant to reach the final Destination X will be crowned the winner.

The first season featured locations such as London, Rome, Geneva, Paris, Amsterdam, Munich, Salzburg, Venice and Monaco.

It is produced by ITV-owned Twofour, which is behind Apple’s The Reluctant Traveller, and Universal Television Alternative Studio. Andy Cadman serves as showrunner and exec produces alongside Dean Morgan, Sophie Alcock, Darren Brown, Emanuel Vanderjeugd and Twofour’s Dan Adamson and Shireen Abbott. Production is expected to start later this year.

It is based on a Belgian format, created by Geronimo and distributed by Be-Entertainment.

The project is part of a partnership between NBCUniversal and the BBC. The BBC ordered its own version of the format, which aired last year, although it’s not clear whether the British public broadcaster has renewed the show.

Last year, the U.S. studio and the BBC said they were looking for more formats to partner on and the next one would be “original British IP.”

“Destination X is returning with the world as our playground to deliver new unforgettable adventures that will keep viewers guessing every step of the way,” said Sharon Vuong, EVP, Unscripted Programming at NBC. “With the incomparable Jeffrey Dean Morgan back at the helm, Season 2 promises to deliver surprising twists and push boundaries even further.”

Destination X pushes the boundaries of what unscripted television can deliver with a truly global experience that feels cinematic, exhilarating and unlike anything else on TV,” added Toby Gorman, President, Universal Television Alternative Studio. “With this new season, we’re dialing everything up even more, taking both the contestants and the audience on adventures that are bigger, bolder and completely unexpected.”

Dean Morgan is represented by UTA, Goodman, Genow, Schenkman, Smelkinson & Christopher, and Viewpoint.
