Over the course of the last few years, there's no denying Demon Slayer has established itself as Ufotable's flagship franchise. Season after season the series has continued to rake in the views, sales, and acclaim, more so with the latest theatrical release of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle.
That said, with only two more movies to go until the series wraps up, the hunt is underway for Ufotable's next mega-hit. One common speculation is that the much-awaited Genshin Impact anime could fill this void. However, there's a chance that fans may be disappointed after all this time.
Genshin Impact’s Latest Trailers Set the Bar High for the Anime
With the release of Version 6.3 or "Luna IV", Genshin Impact recently introduced two new exciting units, Columbina, the New Moon Goddess and Zibai, the White Horse Adeptus. As usual, leading up to their in-game release, both characters were highlighted in their own trailers, which have been especially a step-up in terms of quality, animation, and direction.
Admittedly, Genshin Impact's character trailers have seen immense improvement for quite some time now. Gone are the days of Kaeya simply sprinting across a field or climbing up a cliff. Even so, Columbina and Zibai's teasers have been in a league of their own, along with other recent releases such as "The Gods' Limits" teaser.
While these are exciting for fans of the game, it does create cause for concern as to whether the Genshin Impact anime will ever be able to live up to the extremely high bar these teasers have set along with the steep expectations already placed upon the anime.
The Genshin Impact Anime Could Replace Demon Slayer
At the end of the day, teasers are short and contained, which makes it much easier to pull out all the stops. Even with a studio as skilled and talented as Ufotable, it might not be realistic or sustainable to hope for full-length episodes and whole seasons to match the same quality as the character trailers.
There is no doubt that the Genshin Impact anime will be beautiful in its own right, but hoping for more might come at the cost of similar long waits between seasons like Demon Slayer.
All that said, if there is any studio that has even a chance at pulling off this adaptation, it is most definitely Ufotable. The studio has especially proven itself with the latest Demon Slayer movie, even if it did get snubbed at the Oscars and if it can strike the balance with the Genshin Impact adaptation, the series can certainly replace Demon Slayer when all is said and done.
