Demi Lovato recalled a painful childhood memory in the new Hulu documentary Child Star, which premieres on September 17.

In a trailer for the upcoming documentary, the Disney alum, 32, alleged that some of her former classmates signed 'a suicide petition saying that' she 'should kill' herself.

She did not disclose the names of those 'popular girls' that she claims urged her to take her own life.

The film, which is Lovato's directorial debut, was co-helmed with The 12th Victim director Nicola Marsh.

Raven-Symoné, Christina Ricci, Alyson Stoner and Kenan Thompson also shared their struggles as young actors in Child Star.

Demi Lovato shared a startling piece of information in a new teaser for her documentary Child Star. Amid snippets of conversation with former child performers, the Disney alum, 32, says, 'The popular girls signed a suicide petition saying that I should kill myself'

Lovato, who shared her history of drug use and abuse which began at a young age in the 2021 documentary Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil, seems to be making some amends as she speaks with former colleagues.

'When we first got on the phone you were like, "I was on your show,"' the La La Land singer told Symoné, 38, admitting, 'I don’t even remember something that I was on.'

The MTV Music Video Award winner also persuaded her Camp Rock co-star Alyson Stoner, 31, to participate in the project.

The two had not been in contact for years, and Lovato agreed to sit down for a 'healing' conversation with Stoner before going on camera, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

'I remember a sense of walking on eggshells,' Stoner said, in the trailer.

'I'm genuinely so sorry, ' Lovato replied.

Regarding that time in her life, Lovato told THR, 'I think I’d passed the threshold of what I could withstand emotionally and physically,' in what the actress said she now understands to be a trauma response.

'And I didn’t realize that child stardom could be traumatic — and it isn’t traumatic for everyone, but for me, it was,' she explained, realizing her acting out had consequences for others.

'I think about people in the wardrobe department on my TV show because I’d go in there in bad moods all the time,' she said.

'I worry about guest stars that came on or the other actors or the people during Camp Rock 2,' she told the outlet.

'And it’s easy to excuse that behavior because I was so young and in so much pain, but I’m really remorseful, and that’s a guilt that stays with you forever.'
