Demi Lovato has cancelled a number of her upcoming shows on her It's Not That Deep tour, leaving her fans devastated.

The Skyscraper singer, 33, took to Instagram on Tuesday to announce the axing of a handful of dates 'to protect my health' in a candid statement.

Shows in Las Vegas, Denver and Nashville are among those effected, while Orlando has been rescheduled.

Demi penned to fans: 'My Lovatics - I am so excited to get back on stage this year and visit you in as many cities as I can. While starting to prepare for the tour, I realized that I have overextended what may be possible.

'To protect my health, and ensure I can give you my all at each show, I need to build in more time to rest and rehearse and ultimately adjust to a schedule with some more time off that will allow me to handle the entire run of the tour.

'Charlotte, Nashville, Atlanta, Las Vegas, and Denver - I am so sad to say that I will no longer be able to see you on this tour and I am so sorry to those who planned to be there. Orlando - we are moving your show to April 13th and will kick off there.'

Demi continued: 'If you purchased your tickets for one of these shows through Ticketmaster or AXS, refunds will be issued automatically. If you purchased from a third-party reseller (StubHub, SeatGeek, VividSeats) etc, please reach out to your point of purchase.

'In Orlando, all previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new date. Additional tickets are available on demilovato.com/tour.

'I am so excited for this tour and am looking forward to seeing so many of your faces singing with me! Thank you for your support always. I love you and I cannot wait to see you soon.'

Fans have flooded social media with reaction with divided opinions on the news, with some accusing Demi of cancelling due to low ticket sales, while others sympathised with her.

'Finding out that I won’t be able to see Demi on tour breaks my heart because I was going to do a lot of DoorDash and Uber to save up to actually see her when she came to Atlanta in April but I’m broken hearted I won’t. I hope someday I get to meet you @ddlovato';

'Health comes first always. Respect to Demi Lovato for choosing longevity over burnout. Fans will still be there when she’s ready';

'Demi Lovato just cancelled my tour stop . How do I cancel her ?! Omg I’m so irritated';

'I really don’t think this is about demi’s health at all tbh. i think she over-planned the tour based on how her album would sell and cancelled those dates for low ticket sales :/ this is so disappointing i was really looking forward to it but now i wont be able to make any dates'.
