Goodbye, Inspiron. Farewell, XPS. So long, Latitude and Precision. Dell is rebranding its laptop and desktop lines for 2025. The computer maker has shuttered its longtime model names in favor of a simplified nomenclature that it announced today at CES 2025.
Dell's laptops and PCs will now fall under an iPhone-like structure with series labeled simply as Dell, Dell Pro and Dell Pro Max. It's not exactly that straightforward because there are base, Plus and Premium versions of each, but we've seen our last Inspiron and XPS laptops.
The Dell, Dell Plus and Dell Premium series comprise the company's consumer models that were previously labeled as either Inspiron or XPS. The Dell Pro series replaces the Latitude line of business laptops, and the Dell Pro Max takes the place of the previous Precision workstation line.
Here's what Dell announced today at CES for its new laptop lineup.
Dell 14 Plus and Dell 16 Plus
The plainly labeled Dell laptop series is the replacement for the previous mainstream Inspiron line, with Dell Plus models tracking closely to the previous mainstream Inspiron Plus models. Today, Dell announced new 14- and 16-inch Dell Plus laptops, and each is available as a standard clamshell laptop or two-in-one convertible.
Both models are based on Intel Core Ultra Series 2 CPUs and offer either 16GB or 32GB of RAM and up to 2TB of solid-state storage. The Dell 14 Plus features either a 14-inch, 1,920x-1,200-pixel touch display or a 2.5K (2,560x1,600) non-touch display. The display upgrade is more interesting on the Dell 16 Plus, where you can choose to upgrade the base 1,920x1,200 touch display to a QHD+ (3,200x1,800) mini-LED panel with touch support. Having the option for a mini-LED on a mainstream Dell laptop is certainly a "Plus."
The weight for each is average, with the Dell 14 Plus at 3.42 pounds and the Dell 16 Plus at 4.52 pounds, according to Dell.
The Dell 14 Plus and Dell 16 Plus will start shipping on Feb. 18. The Dell 14 Plus starts at $1,099, and the Dell 16 Plus starts at $1,149. The two-in-one version of each starts at $999.
The Dell Plus models sit between the Dell and Dell Premium laptop lines, but these bottom and top rungs of the Dell laptop ladder have yet to be revealed. I'll be curious to see the starting prices for the base Dell (non-Plus) models when they are announced. And I can't wait to see how the Dell Premium laptops differ from the previous XPS line and what features they offer that you can't get with a Dell or Dell Plus laptop.
Dell Pro laptop line
The Dell Pro series gives us a better view of how Dell will distinguish the base, Plus and Premium version from one another, but pricing remains a mystery for these models.
The Dell Pro 14 and Dell Pro 16 are the entry-level models for this new line of business laptops. These models feature a mix of Core Ultra Series 1 and Series 2 processors and come wrapped in plastic shells. Despite being at the low-end of the line, these Dell Pro models let you stuff them with up to 64GB of RAM and a 2TB SSD. These are productivity machines, however, and not graphics powerhouses; only integrated Intel graphics are offered. And with only 720p or 1080p webcam options, they aren't the best choice if you spend a large chunk of your workday on video conferences.
The Dell Pro Plus models bump you up to an aluminum chassis and are available with 13-, 14- and 16-inch displays. And the two smaller sizes are available as a two-in-one. The webcam options improve with either a 1080p or 5-megapixel camera.
The Dell Pro Premium models come in either 13- or 14-inch sizes and feature lightweight, rigid magnesium enclosures. The Dell Pro 14 Premium laptop offers a tandem OLED display option, which is the same tech found on the iPad Pro. It combines two OLED panels to increase the brightness, which has been a weakness of OLED displays, while still playing to an OLED's strength of having a high contrast ratio.
The keyboard backlighting comes by way of mini-LEDs, which Dell says reduces the keyboard's power usage by up to 75% and extends battery life by around four hours. There's a touchpad upgrade that Dell is calling an Optional Collaboration Touchpad that provides controls along the top of the touchpad for Microsoft Teams and Zoom. I'm not sure these touch-sensitive buttons will be better than what you might find on the Function row, but I'm excited to check out this new feature.

DellThe Dell Pro Premium laptops also feature a modular USB-C port that Dell says is more durable and easier to repair than a soldered USB-C port.
These models also offer up to an 8-megapixel webcam and double the number speakers from the lower-tier models to a quad array for better audio output.
The Dell Pro 13 and 14 Premium models are available today at launch along with the Dell Pro 13 and 14 Plus. The Dell Pro 13 Plus will follow and start shipping on Feb. 25.
Dell Pro 13, 14 and 16 Plus models with low-power Intel Core Ultra 200U processors will hit in late March/early April, and AMD Ryzen-based versions of these Pro Plus models are planned for sometime in the first half of 2025.
Dell has yet to share pricing information; check back for an update to this story when I'm able to add pricing details for the Dell Pro lines.
Dell Pro Max mobile workstations
For those looking for a mobile workstation, there is the Dell Pro Max line. Available in 14- and 16-inch models, the Dell Pro Max offers up to Core Ultra 9 processors and Nvidia graphics. The Dell Pro Max 14 features RTX 500-series graphics and up to 2TB of storage, and the Dell Pro Max 16 supplies RTX 2000-series graphics and up to 4TB of storage.
The Dell Pro Max 14 and 16 will be available in late March/early April with AMD offerings expected by July. Pricing is still to be determined.
