‘Deal or No Deal Island Season 2’s Dickson Wong Needs To Ditch Shallow and Genat

Deal or No Deal Island is still new, so there are many different paths to success in the game. Last season’s winner, Jordan Fowler, won because she did not make any enemies. This gameplay worked for Fowler, even with Survivor fan-favorite Rob "Boston Rob" Mariano as a competitor. Season 2 has a new set of players and opportunities. Players like Parvati Shallow and David Genat have a history of being cut-throat, as does Big Brother strategic slacker Will Kirby, who joined the game in episode two. Dickson Wong must find a way to stand out against these killer contestants.

Dickson Has a Strategic Mind

Dickson Wong did not show up to Deal or No Deal Island without a strategy. Wong knows he is small, and people tend to underestimate him, and he wants to use this to slide under the radar. Wong noticed Parvati Shallow, so, recognizing her as a threat, Wong got close to Shallow and Genat, who had formed a duo with Shallow. Wong could endear himself to Genat and Shallow, which led Genat to take him under his wing. On the other hand, Shallow is considerably more wary of any motherly relationship in the game but takes the “mom” to Genat’s “dad” anyway. During the challenges, Wong is successful in helping to get Sydnee Peck out of the game. However, Wong chooses Genat first, which keeps him within reach and helps further their bond, all while forcing him to break his promise to Sydnee Peck, who ends up in the bottom two because of it. Dickson Wong may not have the experience that Parvati Shallow and David Genat have, but Wong does have a strategic mind.

The Fake Family Is a Threat to Dickson Wong’s Game

Even though Wong has formed two strong bonds with Shallow and Genat, there is a lot of risk to the fake family dynamic. The first is within the family itself. Parvati Shallow is one of the best Survivor players of all time, thanks to her ability to draw people to her and destroy them. Shallow’s gameplay is so cut-throat that Wong could end up with a knife in his back. Shallow’s lack of loyalty is not the only threat to Wong. Although Genat and Shallow’s parental role with Wong is sweet, it is risky for Wong. The rest of the Deal or No Deal Island cast has already picked up on the trio. No one wants to get to the end against a strong alliance, so the other contestants will try to split the trio up. Since Wong is the seemingly weaker of the trio, he may be the target of a plan to eliminate him from the competition. Having the fake family alliance with Shallow and Genat may help Wong, but it is also a risk to his game.

Dickson Needs To Stand on His Own if He Wants To Compete With Parvati and David

The risk to his game is not the only reason Dickson Wong should drop Shallow and Genat. The little family they have created is interesting because it could allow Wong to step forward as a protégé. Unfortunately, if he skates to the end of Deal or No Deal Island but rides on the coattails of the other two, Wong will never fit into the family. Because of cut-throat gameplay, Genat and Shallow are considered some of the best Survivor players ever. If Wong wants to fit in with “mom and dad,” he needs to get his hands dirty without them. Wong has a strategic mind, which could give him a winning season. If he wants to stand out and be worthy of such a villainous family, Wong must let go of Shallow and Genat.

Dickson Wong, David Genat, and Parvati Shallow allied with their fake family in the first few rounds of Deal or No Deal Island. Wong has a strategic mind and can put himself in a good position with Genat and Shallow at his side. Still, if he wants to stand out as a competitor and be taken seriously on Deal or No Deal Island, or even be considered a protégé, Dickson Wong cannot remain buddy-buddy with his faux-parents, David Genat and Parvati Shallow.
