Deadpool's Version of the Venom Horse Is Exactly As Awesome As You Expect

2 days ago 2

Deadpool breaks the fourth wall every chance he gets, so he, of course, would have something to say about the most exciting moment in the trailer of Venom: The Last Dance: when Venom takes over a horse and he and Eddie Brock race across the desert. Now, a preview for Deadpool #8 reveals that the Deadpool-verse has an even more awesome symbiote ride.

A variant cover by artist Ema Lupaccino features Deadpool riding atop a giant symbiote wolf - which is also Wade Wilson's sort-of daughter, Princess. Wilson, recently having had two of his limbs chopped off by the Muramasa Blade, has handed over the Deadpool title to his other daughter, Ellie. She's receiving combat training from Taskmaster, and proving to be almost as fast a learner as him.

Wade Wilson's Daughters Are Upholding the Deadpool Name

Ellie and Princess save their father in Deadpool #5 by Cody Ziglar and Andrea Di Vito

Deadpool's daughter, Ellie Camacho, was first introduced more than a decade ago in Deadpool (2012) #19 by Brian Posehn, Gerry Duggan, and Declan Shelvey. Her mother, Carmelita, shared a moment of passion with Deadpool when she thought she was going to be killed, but everyone was saved by the Heroes for Hire, and Deadpool had no idea that Carmelita was pregnant when he left. Eleanor has reappeared in Wade's life over the years, usually held as a captive to get him to go on a mission or make sure he doesn't kill a villain. In her current incarnation, she's anything but a victim.

Deadpool's other daughter, Princess, has a slightly more unconventional origin. She first appeared in Deadpool (2023) #1 by Alyssa Wong and Martin Coccolo. The Harrower, a mad scientist working with Doctor Octopus, obtained a sample of Carnage and planned to make a clone symbiote that would answer only to her. Due to his healing factor, she decided that Deadpool would be the perfect candidate to incubate the creature, but didn't expect that, when it emerged from him, it would show loyalty to Wade Wilson instead of her. He gave the symbiote/clone/wolf/daughter the name Princess, and she fiercely protected her "Papa."

Before calling her Princess, Wade referred to the Carnage clone as Renesmee, a reference to Edward and Bella's child in Twilight : a half-human, half-vampire child who was devouring her mother from within. Deadpool's pregnancy was similarly rough.

Deadpool's Symbiote Ride Is Cooler Than Venom's

Deadpool (2023) #7 by Alyssa Wong and Luigi Zagaria

Panels from Deadpool (2023) #7, featuring growing girl Princess (a symbiote wolf) getting her vitamins (eating one of Deadpool's enemies).

While we have to wait until October 25 to see the whole Venom horse scene in theaters, Princess has already had great moments in Deadpool comics. In the trailer, Eddie Brock and Venom aren't sure if the horse will even survive bonding with the symbiote, but Princess is fully independent, and is a sweetheart when it comes to her father and sister. Now that Ellie has officially taken over her father's name, and been aggressively trained by Taskmaster, working with her symbiote wolf sister makes her a much deadlier Deadpool. After all, despite his love of violence and mayhem, Deadpool doesn't really eat people. These two are showing up the Marvel Universe, just like Daddy Deadpool.

Deadpool #8 will be released on November 13, from Marvel Comics.

The merc with the mouth first appeared in an issue of New Mutants in 1990, and since then has gone on to get his own series and a massive cult following. With his incredible powers of healing and regeneration, Deadpool was initially depicted as an X-Men villain but went on to become an anti-hero. After getting his own movie series starting in 2016, the third Deadpool movie finally brings the wisecracking, fourth-wall-breaking character into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
