Deadliest Catch star's haunting final words to his children just moments before his fatal fall overboard

Deadliest Catch star Todd Meadows's final words to his kids before his fatal fall were revealed on the season 22 finale of the Discovery Channel show.

During a FaceTime call, Meadows assured his children he was 'being safe,' mere moments before he fell overboard while filming the series this past February.

Producers depicted the before and after of Meadows's death during Friday's episode, including a stirring segment in which Meadows promised his son that they'd go on a fishing trip when he returned home.

'I hope you're being safe,' his daughter said during the family call. 'If you're not being safe, you better be safe.'

The father of three then replied, 'Oh, I'm being safe.'

Meadows succumbed to 'drowning with probable hypothermia' after falling off the Aleutian Lady and into the Alaskan waters of the Bering Sea at age 25.

Elsewhere in Friday's episode, the reality television star said it had 'been one of [his] dreams and goals' to join the fishing crew.

He explained to producers in a confessional interview, 'That's why I'm up here to make it and to try to support my family.'

Meadows said leaving his children – all under the age of five – to work at sea was heart-wrenching, particularly because the youngest ones didn't understand why he was gone.

The aftermath of his deadly fall into the freezing sea were shared, with Captain Rick Shelford asking crew members if everybody was ok after he heard screams.

When the crew answered 'no,' the boat was turned around in a concerted effort to pull Meadows from the water. 

The fisherman had been in the water for over six minutes and he was unresponsive when he was pulled from the sea.

When he didn't respond to CPR, the Coast Guard was called.

Meadows's remains were cremated after being transported to Anchorage. He is survived by his wife and their children. 

The tragic incident was captured on camera by the Discovery Channel crew, who were filming season 22 of the Deadliest Catch.

'There's multiple angles. I mean, they got everything,' deckhand Trey John Green III said earlier this year, shortly after his colleague's death.

He also told Page Six that the waters were 'calm' and 'only a degree or two above freezing' when Meadows went overboard.

While speaking to TMZ months ago, Meadows's mother Angela Meadows said her family did not want any footage of the fatal incident to be aired.

'We don't want to see any footage from the accident and do not want Discovery to air any of that footage or make money off of our son's death,' she said in April. 'We hope they only air good things of Todd on that boat.'

She said the family asked for clips of Meadows crabbing at sea so they can remember him doing what he loved and 'have the videos for memories.'

A GoFundMe launched to support Meadows's loved ones has raised more than $87,000 of its $90,000 goal.
