Elle, meet Elle! Reese Witherspoon greets Lexi Minetree
Whoever said orange was the new pink was seriously disturbed.
So it’s no wonder why Reese Witherspoon and son Deacon Phillippe wore coordinating pink outfits at the Elle premiere in New York City on June 23.
To celebrate the occasion, Reese channeled her inner Elle Woods, donning a pink puff-sleeved lace dress. Meanwhile, Deacon was a dead ringer for his father Ryan Phillippe, as he recreated the Cruel Intentions star’s look from the Legally Blonde premiere in 2001. The 22-year-old wore a suit with a wide pink tie and aviator sunglasses, just like his dad did 25 years ago when he accompanied his then-wife on the red carpet.
Indeed, the night was like déjà vu for Reese, who supported Elle star Lexi Minetree as she filled Elle Woods’ designer shoes. The 48-year-old, who serves as an executive producer for the new Prime Video prequel series, previously shared that Lexi was cast because the two of them are like “the same person.”
And while Ryan was not present at the Elle premiere—he and Reese split in 2008 after nearly a decade of marriage—he remains on good terms with his ex.
In fact, the former couple, who also share 26-year-old daughter Ava, recently reunited at Deacon’s college graduation in May. Ahead of his son finishing school, the I Know What You Did Last Summer star got candid about how he would help his kids transition into adulthood.

“It’s nice to offer your experience to them,” the 51-year-old told E! News on Feb. 18, “and to let them know what you've been through and to guide them that way.”
As his children start careers of their own, Ryan said he’s happy to be a “sounding board” for them, although he knows they can handle challenges on their own.

“My ex-wife and I are blessed with kids who have [an] incredible sense of self,” he said, “and also are incredibly conscientious and very academically driven—intelligent. So, they make really good choices.”
Now that you’ve seen Deacon and Reese celebrate Elle, read on to check out more upcoming TV premiere dates…
