  • The De'Longhi Primadonna Aromatic is a new premium coffee maker
  • It 'learns' your favorite drinks and when you like to drink them
  • It can brew 38 different drinks, and can make hot or cold milk foam

De'Longhi has launched a new coffee maker that 'learns' which drinks you prefer at particular times of day, and offers to brew them for you with a tap of its color touchscreen. The De'Longhi Primadonna Aromatic has a menu of over 30 different drink options, but rather than forcing you to scroll through a lengthy list of coffee variations, it pushes your regular orders to the front for quick access.

Best of all, these quick recommendations change depending on the time of day, so if you like to kick-start your morning with a double espresso and enjoy a latte with lunch, the correct option will be right there on the screen. Think of it as a friendly barista who always remembers your usual order, and can prepare it without you even asking.

I tested the Primadonna Aromatic after it launched in the UK last year, and loved this smart feature, which can be a huge time-saver. It's not a problem if you and your partner enjoy different drinks — the machine lets you create up to four different profiles, each of which will keep its own record of the owner's preferences.

It will also store any custom drink settings you make, which is great if you want a cappuccino with extra foam, for example, or want a shorter drink to fit in your favorite cup. Take a look at my full De'Longhi Primadonna Aromatic review for more details.

The Primadonna Aromatic gets all the fundamentals right as well, brewing consistently delicious espresso and customizing its own brew settings to suit your chosen coffee beans. There's a large-capacity bean hopper on top, but you can choose to bypass this and use a scoop of pre-ground coffee if you prefer, which is very handy if you want to switch to decaf in the afternoon, for example.

The machine can brew hot and cold, and has an advanced milk-frothing system that can produce hot or cold milk foam using either dairy or a plant-based alternative. It worked exceptionally well during my tests, and produced one of the best latte macchiatos I've had from a home coffee maker (perfect for summer).

The De'Longhi Primadonna Aromatic is available to buy now direct from De'Longhi and from Williams Sonoma. Not sure whether it's the right coffee maker for you? Take a look at our full roundup of the best espresso machines for all our tried and tested recommendations.
