James Gunn's DC Universe is set to follow up 2025's smash-hit debut Superman with another epic movie about a superpowered Kryptonian: Supergirl. The story of Kal-El's cousin Kara Zor-El (Milly Alcock) and her poorly trained pup Krypto flies into theaters this summer, and Polygon can reveal an exclusive image from the upcoming film — one that fans of the excellent comic Supergirl is based on may recognize.
Directed by Craig Gillespie with a script from Ana Nogueira, Supergirl adapts the 2022 comic Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow by writer Tom King and artist Bilquis Evely. Woman of Tomorrow tells a galaxy-hopping story following Kara and young alien girl, Ruthye, as they set out on a journey of revenge. While the movie appears to be following that basic structure, it's unclear from the trailer if this version of Supergirl will visit as many different locations in her quest or just gets stuck on the first junk planet she visits.
However, our exclusive suggests that won't be the case.

Why would Superman's cousin need to ride a bus when she can fly through space faster than a speeding bullet? That's a question you'll have to watch the movie to find out — or just read the comic. Speaking of which, here's a look at that same space bus as drawn by Evely in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
