David Tennant will host the 2025 BAFTA Film Awards.

Once again hosted at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall, the event will mark Tennant’s second consecutive year as host.

“We couldn’t be happier that David Tennant is returning to host the EE BAFTA Film Awards in 2025,” BAFTA CEO Jane Millichip said of Tennant’s re-appointment. “He is an absolute pleasure to work with, and his performance this year was simply outstanding – warm, witty, whip-smart, and with a delightful touch of mischief. It is a privilege to share Britain’s biggest celebration of film with TV audiences worldwide, and to recognize the extraordinary creativity of those who power the British and global film industry.”

Tennant is best known for his acclaimed run as Doctor Who. His other prominent credits include Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Good Omens, and Broadchurch. His stage credits include Much Ado About Nothing, Richard II, Hamlet, and Macbeth

The longlists for all BAFTA categories — including Best Film, Director, Cinematography, Casting, Documentary, and Film Not in the English Language — will be announced on January 3rd. The final nominations will be announced on January 15th.

Several changes have been made to next year’s awards, including the introduction of a new Children’s & Family Film category. The body has also increased the minimum number of theatrical screenings required for Best Film contenders.

The BAFTA Film Awards take place on February 16.
