Darcy Moore and his girlfriend Dee Salmin have taken the next, serious step in their relationship.

Despite Dee, 31, previously insisting she would avoid moving in with her partner for as long as possible, the radio host and the AFL star have now decided to live together after all.

'We had lots of conversations about what [living together] would look like and how it would work, and it's been really fun,' Dee told The Sydney Morning Herald.

The couple moved into a shared home last year, Dee explained - and it's Darcy who does most of the cooking.

Darcy, 30, tells the publication that their living arrangement has brought them closer together, as Dee now sees 'the losses, the injuries, the fatigue, the toll of being an athlete' firsthand.

'In a weird way, it's been good for me to be able to share that because often [as captain] I have to be the source of strength and stability and calm,' he said.

'To be able to show her the real and challenging part of it has felt really nice.'

Elsewhere in the interview, the couple admitted that they'd each been single for a number of years before meeting one another - with Darcy never having had a serious romance in his entire adulthood.

'We had both been single for a long time – me, my whole adult life – so we were both pretty slow and calculated at the start. We didn't rush into anything,' he said.

Dee had been single for three years before meeting Darcy, and had avoided dating for most of her 20s after tiring of being 'drawn to people who weren't that great.'

The radio presenter, who is known for her 'ultra-woke' views, said in July 2024 that she did not want to live with the premiership-winning Collingwood skipper.

Salmin hosts Triple J radio's The Sunday Hook Up sex education program, and she went into detail about their romance on another ABC show, Ladies, We Need To Talk.

'I don't live with my partner at the moment and we have such different, independent, busy lives,' she said at the time.

Dee indicated that she and Moore don't conform to the heterosexual gender stereotype of women taking on the bulk of housework and domestic duties when living with a partner.

'We get to have so much of what we had when we were still single in our relationship,' she said.

'But I wonder how much you can actually upkeep that when you do end up living together. So much of it is hetero-dynamic learnt behaviours you might fall into.'

She was supported by the show's host, TV star turned radio personality and author Yumi Stynes, who said living together would lead to 'domestic drudgery' that's 'not sexy' and asked if Salmin thought all couples should live separately.

'I'm going to be doing it for as long as possible,' Salmin said.

'I also said to my partner we are going to have separate bedrooms [when they live together]. I just think it's so important.

'I think that it's something you really need to make sure that you're taking care of and working on... your partner can't be everything,' Salmin explained.

Dee and Darcy have been dating since early 2023 and made their first major public appearance eight months into their relationship at the 2023 Brownlow.
