Danny Jones reveals loyal McFly fans are the reason he is the bookies favourite to win this year's I'm A Celeb

He is the bookies' favourite to be crowned this year's King of the Jungle with the odds 2-1.

When asked why he thought that was, Danny Jones beamed and shouted: 'Because McFly fans are awesome.'

It is the power of the noughties pop band which ITV insiders are sure will see win this year's I'm A Celeb having also seen his popularity as a coach on their talent show, The Voice.

The star power that comes with being a member of McFly should not be underestimated with tried and tested magic to help Danny beat the likes of super WAG Coleen Rooney and N-Dubz's Tulisa.

Danny, along with Harry Judd, Dougie Poynter and Tom Fletcher, launched their group in 2003 off of the back of Busted who were in the process of splitting.

And now, thanks to the loyalty of their huge fanbase who are now women in their late 20s and early 30s are exactly the right demographic to vote for their jungle favourite.

An ITV source told MailOnline: 'Danny is a golden ticket of a signing for I'm A Celebrity.

'He's done spectacular work as a judge on the Voice. Everyone is so pleased with him - he's a brilliant mentor and has a winner's energy and, of course, the fans go wild for him.'

Indeed, there is already evidence. Dougie was crowned jungle king in 2011, while Tom's wife, the influencer Giovanna Fletcher won in 2020.

Meanwhile, Harry won Strictly Cone Dancing in 2011 too. According to BBC insiders, it was 'by a country mile' and they praised McFly fans for their support.

And, in 2006, Busted singer Matt Willis won the show. Since then, McFly and Busted have teamed up to create a band named McBusted.

For Danny, winning the ITV flagship show would make it a hat trick this year after he won the Masked Singer and landed a spot as a judge on the Voice.

'I'm going for the Pep Guardiola,' the father-of-one joked.

With his odds at winning I'm A Celebrity currently standing at 2-1, Danny shouted, 'Come on Jonsey!' on learning the nation was already behind him.

He jokingly added: 'I would definitely put all of your mortgage on me.'

After such a successful run for McBusted on the television shows, Danny admitted there was 'an added pressure' but said, 'I can only do my best for my son and my campmates, and of course, the fans.'

McFly sold 10 million records worldwide with songs such as Five Colours In Her Hair and It's All About you in their catalogue.

As a boyband largely untouched by scandal, apart from Dougie's brief stint in rehab for alcohol in 2018, McFly has never given its intergenerational fanbase a reason to stray.

In fact, fans have enjoyed watching them grow up and start families, which they document widely on social media and in lucrative business endeavours.

Harry goes running with his son, Dougie has joined Tom and Giovanna in writing children's books and the couple also share videos of their chickens, much to the fans' delight.

This year's campmates include Tulisa Contostavlos, Coleen Rooney, Barry McGuigan, Danny, Melvin O'Doom, Oti Mabuse, Alan Halsall, Jane Moore, GK Barry and Dean McCullough

Meanwhile, Danny's love for Soccer Aid has become a big part of his presence online as well as his six-year-old son, Cooper, with who he shared a video of finding out Danny was Piranha on this year's Masked Singer.

As viewers chanted 'Take it off' to his mask, Cooper watched on and was delighted to discover it was his father he jumped off the sofa and hugged Danny screaming, 'Daddy, it's daddy'.

Thousands watched the touching moment which has since gone viral online.

Fans love the boys' 'wholesome' development as a group, as where other bands have spiralled into disrepute, McFly has endured the early days of stardom and emerged victorious.
