With the highly anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 reportedly set to take us to a brand-new setting that will "feel like Chicago gone wrong", a recent trailer has fans thinking that we may have already seen our first sneak peek at our next destination.

Whilst Cyberpunk 2077 has received praise for its narrative, story, characters, and gameplay over the years, there is no denying that one of its strongest features is its setting of Night City. The metropolis, which exists in the not-so-distant future, is home to powerful corporations, gangs, streetkids, and nomads alike, and whilst on the surface its neon-drenched streets look alluring, you only need to spend some time there to know that darkness lurks throughout.

Created by Mike Pondsmith, Cyberpunk, and therefore Night City, has years of history beneath its very foundations and despite millions of fans falling in love with it during their time with Cyberpunk 2077, it would appear as though the upcoming sequel will introduce a new setting entirely.

According to Pondsmith, the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel will also feature a brand-new map he describes as "Chicago gone wrong". However, with no further information regarding this statement, fans have been left to ponder what this could mean. Not only that, but does this mean that we will not see Night City at all?

Only time will tell when it comes to those questions, but, in the meantime, fans think that they have already seen a glimpse of this "Chicago gone wrong" following the release of a recent trailer, or at least some areas of Night City that we have not yet seen.

This comes after one fan took to r/cyberpunkgame following the recent trailer for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2. Set to offer fans a standalone story, yet serving as a sequel to 2022's hit Netflix animated show, Edgerunners returns later this year and earlier this week, we were treated to the first official trailer.

The user took to Reddit to share screenshots from the trailer and sought to compare the locations with where they could be in Night City based on Cyberpunk 2077. The results are quite astonishing, and pretty much perfect, but also give us a glimpse into the highly anticipated sequel.

As you can imagine, the results were enough to amaze fellow fans, who took to the comments to share their thoughts. "I love that locations are a perfect 1:1 between both," the top comment read. Another agreed, adding, "I love this so much, because this is exactly what makes you want to play again after/before/while seeing Edgerunners. Would it play in the same universe but not in NC, it most definitely would be cool as well, but to imagine that all this happening in the streets you can cross on your own and having all these characters entangled in the actual game lore is just peak."

With CD Projekt RED keeping information regarding the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel close to its chest, it remains to be seen where our next adventure will take place. However, if it is anything like Night City, then we are in for another wild ride.
