Cyberpunk 2077's meteoric success and critical acclaim have allowed it to garner an enormous fan base, one that is endlessly hungry for new content, updates, DLCs, and sequels. When CD Projekt Red was actively developing Cyberpunk 2077, producing huge new patches and massive content updates, fans were understandably satisfied. When CD Projekt Red released the massive spy-thriller-focused DLC, Phantom Liberty, fans were satisfied. However, now that the developer is all but done with the game, there's little left to look forward to.
Of course, there have been new Cyberpunk 2077 projects since then, but these, while absolutely exciting, haven't quite managed to elicit the same kind of enthusiasm and hype as those aforementioned updates and DLC. Fortunately, for those sick of modern Cyberpunk 2077 content being brand-new figures or mods, a genuinely huge new project is in the works, and it is releasing far sooner than one may think, allowing players to once again return to Night City.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners blew everyone away when it first released on Netflix back in 2022. It was one of the few ways the impressive scale, heart, and action of Cyberpunk 2077 had been translated meaningfully, perhaps the only other examples being a handful of the comics and the recent massive DLC-sized Cyberpunk crossover event. Naturally, many assumed that Edgerunners would return eventually, and a teaser back in July 2025 for the upcoming Edgerunners season 2 confirmed this.
However, no one knew just when the next season would release, leaving everyone in the dark, much like with Cyberpunk 2077's sequel. Fortunately, a brand-new Edgerunners season 2 trailer has dropped, revealing a number of key details, chief among them, a new release date. For the first time since 2023, fans will be able to return to Night City and live out the adventures of mercs, cyberpsychos, cops, and Arasaka corpos once again.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners season 2 is scheduled to release on Netflix in Fall 2026. That means, so long as it isn't delayed, Edgerunners 2 should release sometime between September 2026 and November 2026. Of course, that's quite a large release window, but it is certainly a lot sooner than the nebulous release date of Cyberpunk 2077's upcoming sequel, giving fans something a little more tangible to look forward to.
It isn't clear whether all episodes of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 will be released at once on Netflix. Every episode of the original season debuted at the same time back in 2022, but Netflix has since reevaluated this strategy and now implements it on a case-by-case basis.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners season 2 may not be a brand-new game, but if the last season taught us anything, it is that the team at Studio Trigger truly understands the source material, what fans loved about Cyberpunk 2077, and how best to expand upon it. Characters like David, Lucy, and Rebecca are almost as popular, if not more so, than the core cast of the video game, in large part thanks to Edgerunners phenomenal writing. Should season 2 manage to achieve the same feat, then Cyberpunk 2077 fans are undoubtedly in for an enormous treat.
