It continues to astound just how successful Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was in managing to remind people exactly why Cyberpunk 2077 is often hailed as one of the greatest RPGs ever made, and why it was deserving of a second chance. Its ability to completely transform the perception of a video game seemingly doomed to become a cautionary tale for future developers into one of genre-defining feats and get its player count skyrocketing years after release is a monumental feat, to say the least.

Of course, Edgerunners is very much an achievement in its own right, its highly emotional and impactful narrative resonating with its dedicated fans. Its ability to make Cyberpunk 2077 popular was only as a direct result of its own strengths, so it is no surprise that fans want to see it get its own game. Of course, there was the DLC-sized Edgerunners crossover event that took the world by storm and ostensibly served as a final episode to the first series, but there hasn't been a whole game dedicated to the series. Well, that is, of course, until now.

Developed by No Loading Games, in collaboration with CD Projekt Red, the brand-new Cyberpunk: Edgerunners game is a co-operative board game designed to bring the anime to life. Featuring characters from the show, as well as iconic enemies and gangs, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners — Hunted, sees up to four players (or a lone wolf controlling two characters) attempt to escape Night City while completing missions and being pursued.

Naturally, players must also do this while being timed, as each game lasts just 25 minutes, around the length of a Cyberpunk: Edgerunners episode. Once the time runs out, players will automatically lose unless they manage to make it to the exit tile. Tiles are added from a pool of assorted modular pieces, and missions are dished out with different objectives to complete throughout. With each Edgerunner (Maine, Lucy, David, and Rebecca are all playable) having their own ability, players must work together to beat the time, complete their goals, and escape.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners — Hunted is set to launch in September 2026, which is perfectly timed to come out alongside the release of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners season 2. Those interested in the game can pre-order it from No Loading Games' official website for $40. Unlike many of the other Cyberpunk 2077 board games released or scheduled to come out, Hunted is designed to be affordable, with acrylic standees taking the place of plastic figures, and the modular pieces removing the need for a full-sized board.

Still, despite the lower price point, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners — Hunted will likely turn out to be a rather enjoyable time for fans, if No Loading Games' previous work is anything to go by. The studio created the critically acclaimed physical Gwent game, also in collaboration with CD Projekt Red, so it clearly understands the developer's projects. Regardless, it is a fun new release for fans of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, and the perfect way to continue engaging with these characters long after the final episode rolls credits.
