If you play TTRPGs and love yourself some werewolves or vampires (or, y’know, both), Critical Role’s Darrington Press has something just for you with the first-ever Daggerheart expansion.
Over the weekend at PAX Unplugged, Darrington announced Hope & Fear. The add-on will include new character creator options, a Dread domain for macabre magic for Warlock and Witch classes, and a pair of brand new classes: Brawler and Assassin, who each gives players two subclasses to pick. Players will also get new transformation cards that provide new heritages—along with Vampire and Werewolf, there’s also Shapeshifter, Ghost, Demigod, and Reanimated—and additional communities and ancestries like Frostborne or elemental-touched people.
For the Daggerheart game masters, Hope & Fear has four new campaign suggestions to offer that each have their own custom mechanics and themes, and there’s over 130 adversaries to use against your players. You can get an idea of what the expansion has to offer in the live video of the Unplugged panel down below.
When Daggerheart: Hope & Fear launches next year, it’ll be with a $40 standard edition and a $120 deluxe edition. The former includes the cards and a blank pad to make adversaries with the 200-page book, and the deluxe throws in a full polyhedral dice set, a GM screen, tokens, and a gold foil box. Deluxe owners also get an early access PDF of the rulebook two weeks in advance.
