Criminal Minds: Evolution star Zach Gilford ran errands in Los Angeles last Friday alongside his seven-year-old daughter Zeppelin Adele Gilford just four days after suffering a severe allergic reaction.

The Friday Night Lights alum - turning 43 next month - appears to have made a miraculous recovery as the substantial swelling around his eyes was gone.

Last Monday, Zach shocked his 72K Instagram followers by posting pictures of what appeared to be angioedema, which can cause life-threatening anaphylaxis if swelling blocks the airways.

'Sooooo yesterday was fun,' Gilford captioned his Instastories on Tuesday.

'Good thing we wrapped @criminalminds [season 18 on December 12]. Thanks to all the nurses, doctors, and staff at @huntingtonhospital for coaxing my face back to normalcy... still a little ways to go.'

Luckily for the Illinois-born actor - who did not disclose his allergy - angioedema typically resolves within 24 hours of taking antibiotics, antihistamines, and corticosteroids.

Next Sunday, Zach and his wife Kiele Sanchez will celebrate their 13th wedding anniversary after originally meeting on the set of 2010 TV pilot Matadors.

The 47-year-old actress managed to score a recurring role as Sydney Volt, the wife of prolific serial killer Elias Voit, played by Gilford.

'It's actually harder,' the Fall of the House of Usher actor told Us Weekly last August of working with Kiele.

'It's harder because I don't want to hold a gun to my wife's head… It just happened to be that the nature of these scenes were pretty gross. Honestly, all those scenes are so f***ed up. I'll only speak for myself. Kiele can obviously speak for herself, but it felt gross [bringing those darker moments to life together].'

Zach even had the opportunity to direct the July 18th episode of Jeff Davis and Erica Messer's police procedural titled 'North Star.'

'I only signed a one-year deal,' Gilford recalled.

'When they were negotiating my contract, I said, "Can I direct an episode?" So it worked out. It's something I've always wanted to do. I've shadowed on almost every show I've ever worked on, and it's hard to get that slot, especially on something like this where there's only 10 [episodes].

'But they're very supportive of the cast directing. Half the episodes were directed by cast this season. It was so much fun.'

The Northwestern University grad was also featured in Taylor Swift's 2011 music video for Ours, but he's probably best remembered for playing teen footballer Matt Saracen in NBC drama Friday Night Lights, which aired for five seasons spanning 2006-2011.
