Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Creature Commandos episode 7Creature Commandos episode 7 concludes the first season of the new DCU animated series, ending the conflict in Pokolistan, teasing a new chapter for Task Force M, and also revealing the origins and backstory of Nina Mazursky aka The Mermaid. The final reckoning has come for Princess Ilana Rostovic, and the full truth is finally laid out in this last episode. However, the season finale is not without its twists.
As was seen in the previous Creature Commandos episode 6, Task Force M managed to reassemble in their mission to kill Princess Rostovic, having been ordered to do so by Amanda Waller after she was shown Circe's vision of the future where the Pokolistan monarch triggers WWIII and a massive global takeover. However, Rick Flag and Eric Frankenstein recently discovered evidence suggesting the vision might have been false. Keeping that in mind, here's our recap and ending breakdown for Creature Commandos episode 7 as the truth is finally revealed.
Creature Commandos Episodes 5 Spoilers & Key Story Takeaways
"A Very Funny Monster"
- Creature Commandos episode 7 reveals Nina Mazursky's origins, confirming she was born with her lungs outside her body and full of liquid, though her scientist father Edward built a temporary device to keep her alive.
- Eric Frankenstein is shown taking a taxi to Castle Rostovic to reunite with The Bride, while Nina wonders if Task Force M is doing the wrong thing by trying to kill Princess Ilana.
- Task Force M discovers security footage of Clayface with the princess days earlier.
- Eric arrives and is shot multiple times by The Bride (and subsequently spit on).
- Nina's mother Lily leaves due to what she sees as a poor quality of life for Nina. Later, Edward transforms Nina's DNA, turning her into "The Mermaid" with fins and gills so she requires water to breathe.
- Task Force M finds an entry point to the castle courtyard, while Ilana refuses to cower and goes for her morning swim.
- Weasel doesn’t want to kill Princess, as she had been nice to him and reminds him of the girl he tried to save.
- Nina attends school but is ostracized and bullied, resulting in her running away from home to live in the sewers and rivers.
- Flag wakes up from his coma, and tells Amanda Waller she was wrong about the Princess. This motivates Waller and John Economous to investigate and discover the truth about McPherson and Clayface, leading them to believe that Circe was lying.
- Task Force M convinces Nina to kill the Princess from underwater during her swim.
- Nina gets documented in Star City, and a public hunt begins for The Mermaid's capture. When she's caught, Edward tries pushing through the crowd to get to Nina and is shot by the police.
- Weasel tries to save the Princess, alerting her to Nina's presence underwater. After a struggle, the Princess kills Nina right before Waller calls to cancel the hit.
- The Bride meets with Illana in the aftermath, understanding that Circe was telling the truth but that Ilana had used Clayface to make the vision seem less credible, as she indeed wants to start WWIII.
- The Bride kills the Princess as vengeance for Nina's death before she leaves Pokolistan with Doctor Phosphorus and Weasel.
- John Economos shows Bride her new team: Doctor Phosphorus, She-Bat, what looks to be either Aten or Khalis, Weasel, an upgraded G.I. Robot, and King Shark.
- The post-credits scene for Creature Commandos confirms that Eric Frankenstein still lives.
Creature Commandos Episode 7 Ending Explained
Why The Bride Killed Princess Rostovic
Thanks to the security footage showing Clayface with Rostovic days earlier which Task Force M found during their initial break-in, The Bride chooses to go with her gut and strong belief that Circe's vision was indeed true and that Illana really does intend to start the next World War. Having hired Clayface to pose as Professor Mcpherson to make her confirmation of the vision less credible, Illana had hoped to waylay all suspicion on her and her plans for her nation until it was far too late. That being said, that was not the biggest reason why The Bride decided to pull the trigger and put a bullet in the princess' head.

Creature Commandos Cast & DC Character Guide
Creature Commandos will kick off James Gunn's new DC Universe with an animated TV series including some of the weirdest DC Comics characters.
While Circe's dark vision of the future being true certainly helped, The Bride confirms just before killing Ilana that she's killing the princess mainly because she killed Nina. Mazursky was the only friend The Bride had, and the only monster on Task Force M who actually possessed any sort of real kindness. As such, seeing The Bride walking out of the castle and back to Belle Reve with tears in her eyes is truly heartbreaking, making Nina's demise all the more tragic than it already was.
The DCU's New Creature Commandos Roster Explained
A Mix Of Old And New Faces For Task Force M
Regardless of her personal motives, it's revealed at the very end of Creature Commandos episode 7 that Waller elected to reward The Bride by converting one of Belle Reve's wings into a dedicated space for Task Force M. Likewise, John Economos confirms that this includes The Bride's new team members as well. While Doctor Phosphorus and Weasel are still part of Task Force M following the Pokolistan mission, it seems as though Waller has added some new recruits as well.
In the final scene of Creature Commandos episode 7 at Belle Reve, Doctor Phosphorus is shown playing Ping-Pong with what looks to be Francine Langstrom aka She-Bat (wife of the Batman villain Man-Bat). She-Bat was briefly shown in earlier episodes of Creature Commandos. Likewise, a mummy is shown knitting in the background of the new Task Force M facility. This could either be Aten, a mummy communications expert in some of the Creature Commandos' earliest rosters on the page, or Khalis II, a mummy medic featured in the New 52 version of the team.
Next to Weasel is an upgraded version of G.I. Robot is featured as well, as it looks like Waller had him rebuilt (with a much bigger body). Last but not least is Nanaue aka King Shark, a surprising yet very exciting and fitting addition to Task Force M following his involvement with Task Force X as seen in 2021's The Suicide Squad. While King Shark was voiced by Sylvester Stallone in the live-action James Gunn movie, King Shark is instead voiced in Creature Commandos episode 7 by Diedrich Bader.
Rick Flag's Creature Commandos Fate and Future Explained
Task Force M Is Just The Beginning
Waking up from his coma following his fight with Clayface, Rick Flag was awake just long enough to warn Waller. As such, it's strongly implied that Flag will eventually recover from his injuries. However, his work with Task Force M may come to an end now that The Bride is seemingly in charge of the team going forward. Likewise, Frank Grillio's Rick Flag does have a future in upcoming DCU projects, having been confirmed to appear in live-action both in 2025's Superman as well as in Peacemaker Season 2.
Creature Commandos Episode 7 Post-Credits Scene Explained
Eric Frankenstein Lives
While brief, there is a post-credits scene at the end of Creature Commandos episode 7, confirming that Eric Frankenstein survived being shot repeatedly (and being spit on) by The Bride. As such, it stands to reason that Eric will no doubt be included in Creature Commandos season 2 to try and reunite with his "love" once more. In the meantime, the post-credits scene shows him with his gypsy informant who feeds him "sparrow-dropping" soup.
