EXCLUSIVE: Hot on the heels of last year’s box office hit Regretting You, writer-director Josh Boone and Constantin Film are reteaming for supernatural thriller Siamese Dream

Based on an original script by Boone and frequent collaborator Knate Lee, the story follows a hitman in Honolulu who faces a spiritual crisis when he finds himself haunted by a ghost of a young woman he accidentally killed during a botched attempt on his life.

Constantin Film is fully financing the thriller, which is expected to begin production later this year, and north.five.six. is launching the project to buyers at the European Film Market this week.

Siamese Dream is produced by Robert Kulzer for Constantin Film and Oscar-winner Judy Cairo (Crazy Heart) while Constantin CEO Oliver Berben is executive producer.

Boone directed the screen adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s novel Regretting You, which grossed $48.9M at the domestic box office when Paramount released it last October. The Allison Williams and Dave Franco starrer ended up with a $90.5M global tally after its release. Constantin handled distribution in all German-speaking territories.

Burgeoning finance, sales and distribution outfit north.five.six. will also handle international sales on two more Constantin titles at Berlin this year – supernatural romance If You Could See Me Now, based on the novel of the same name by Cecelia Ahern, and the screen adaptation of Jennifer Archer’s YA romance Into The Deep Blue.

Constantin Film is fully financing romancer If You Could See Me Now, which is directed by Peter Segal and written by Catherine Cort. The story follows a tightly-wound interior designer raising her troubled nephew. Her carefully ordered life is upended when she begins to see her nephew’s invisible friend – a charming, free-spirited man who may hold the key to healing the trauma of her family’s past and her own buried grief.

Kulzer is producing for Constantin along with Canyon Creek Films’ Simon Brooks. Berben executive produces the project, which is set to begin filming in North America later this year. If You Could See Me Now is the third novel by Ahern, whose 18 books have sold 25 million copies worldwide and have been published in more than 40 countries in 30 languages.

Constantin has also joined Jonathan Wright-directed romance Into the Deep Blue as an exec producer and financier. The film, which begins shooting in Ontario, Canada, next month, sees Archer adapt the script from her debut novel. The story follows best friends Nick and Fiona who find their relationship tested on a weekend road trip that forces them to choose between the safety of their friendship and the vulnerability of falling in love.

The film is produced by Michael Baker (Awakening the Zodiac) for Bunk 11 Pictures, Archer and Wright while Berben and Kulzer serve as exec producers on the project.

North.five.six. previously handled international sales on Constantin’s Regretting You and Gore Berbinski’s Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die, the latter of which is screening as a Special Gala in Berlinale on Friday.

“These next three films represent our strategy to support bold and distinct voices and continue to work with passionate filmmakers for a clearly defined and enthusiastic audience,” said L.A.-based Kulzer. “There is a massive appetite for these entertaining stories with wide commercial appeal and we are delighted to collaborate once again with Cecelia Ahern on If You Could See Me Now and Josh Boone on Siamese Dream as well as diving into production next month on Into the Deep Blue

“Michael, Sam and the outstanding group at north.five.six are wonderful partners and the ideal team to introduce our next three films to buyers around the world. We want to be in partnership with our international distributors and engage in the kinds of discussions that support everyone’s needs and vision for success.”
