Zayn Malik's worried fans have sent the star well-wishes after he announced he had to postpone the first two of his Stairway To The Sky tour shows last-minute.

The singer, 31, took to his Instagram on Thursday to reveal that his gigs set to take place next week in Edinburgh, had been rescheduled due to 'unforeseen circumstances'.

Zayn had been due to kick off his first ever solo tour in San Francisco on October 23, but he also postponed those dates to January in the wake of the tragic death of his former One Direction bandmate Liam Payne.

The Edinburgh dates would've therefore have been the first shows of the tour, but now they've been moved to December the tour will officially begin in Leeds on November 23.

Sharing a poster of the new dates through his tour management's socials, an accompanying statement read: 'Due to unforeseen circumstances Zayn Stairway To The Sky Edinburgh show original scheduled for November 20 has been rescheduled for December 8.

'A further date on November 21 at the same O2 Academy Edinburgh venue has been moved to December 9. All tickets for the original show dates will be honoured on the rescheduled dates.'

Despite fans being disappointed over the news, many took to social media to voice their concerns for Zayn's well-being and send him supportive messages telling him to 'prioritize his mental health', assuming the delay was related to him still grieving the loss of Liam.

They wrote: 'We love you @zaynmalik Take all the time you need, we'll be here supporting you regardless'.

'@zaynmalik I'm so proud of u for deciding to prioritize your mental health. Pls, don't worry about us. We'll wait as long as u need. Take as much time as u want. We know how you're feeling, you're not alone. We grieve to together. We love you Zayn.'

'Zayn, we are always on your side, take all the time you need; sending all my love to zayn, stay strong z ❤️‍; @zaynmalik take care, please'.

'Honestly Zayn has every right to reschedule the tour for as far away as needed. He lost a friend, if he doesn't feel like performing, we must respect that. If he does feel like performing, we must respect that too. His wellbeing comes first and those who love him, will understand'.

'I really hope zayn’s okay though ❤️‍; I hope no one gives Zayn a hard time for postponing more dates. He is allowed this time to grieve however long he needs to.'

'Here is the thing, if Zayn chooses to postpone the whole tour or even cancels it. I support him regardless. I would rather him be present, mentally okay, and enjoy the experience than devastated, mentally not present and miserable. This is a tour for him and the fans'.

'Of course love. If you need longer off then we totally understand. Our hearts are with you @zaynmalik and we will see you when or if you are ready to tour. All our love ❤️; hope zayn is okay'.

Zayn recently performed at the O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire in London, but this was set to mark the first time he was going on a large tour since leaving One Direction.

Following Liam's unexpected death aged 31 after falling from the third floor of his hotel balcony in Buenos Aires last month, Zayn announced he was postponing the US dates of his tour.

He wrote: 'Given the heartbreaking loss experienced this week, I've made the decision to postpone the US leg of the STAIRWAY TO THE SKY Tour.

'The dates are being rescheduled for January and I'll post them as soon as it's all set in the next few days. Your tickets will remain valid for the new dates. Love you all and thank you for your understanding.'

The UK leg will see him do gigs in Leeds, Manchester, London, Wolverhampton and Newcastle, before the rescheduled Edinburgh dates.

He will be performing hits from his new album, Room Under the Stairs, which he wrote over the past six years in rural Pennsylvania and released in May this year, where it debuted at number three on the UK Albums Chart.

A US music producer working with Zayn previously told the Daily Mail  that the singer is 'in absolute bits' over Liam's sudden passing.

They added that his loved ones 'don't want him to be alone' at the moment, so are making sure he is 'surrounded by his friends.'

Following Liam's unexpected death aged 31 after falling from the third floor of his hotel balcony in Buenos Aires last month, Zayn announced he was postponing the US dates of his tour

They said: 'Zayn was told in the early hours of this morning and has been in absolute bits. He is in shock, and his parents have been in touch with Liam’s family to offer their support and condolences.

'People close to Zayn don’t want him to be alone at the moment, so he is surrounded by friends.'

They said it 'had been a while since Zayn and Liam had spoken' due to 'issues they had with one another in the past.'

The insider went on: 'But they respected each other from a distance. They didn’t hate each other but they couldn’t see eye to eye on different things.

'But they both felt that they had been exploited in the music industry.'

In his tribute to Liam last month, Zayn admitted he had been 'talking out loud' to his former bandmate - as he opened up about their tricky relationship in a tribute.

In an honest message, he acknowledged their ups and downs, saying the pair had 'butted heads', but thanked Liam for 'helping him through his darkest times' and poignantly said he'd hoped for a chance to rebuild their bond in the future.

Zayn, who quit One Direction in 2015 citing 'stress' and stating he wanted to be a 'normal 22-year-old', had an up and down relationship with Liam - who called his bandmate a 'd***' when he appeared on Logan Paul's podcast in 2022.

In the same interview, he also spoke about a physical altercation where a bandmate threw him against a wall, and recently Liam's ex-fiancée Maya Henry alleged that it was Zayn.

Taking to Instagram the day after Liam's passing, Zayn wrote: 'Liam I have found myself talking out loud to you, hoping you can hear me, I can't help but think selfishly that there was so many more conversations for us to have in our lives.

'I never got to thank you for supporting me through some of the most difficult times in my life.

'When I was missing home as a 17-year-old kid you would always be there with a positive outlook and reassuring smile and let me know you were my friend and that I was loved.

'Even though you were younger than me you were always more sensible than me., you were headstrong, opinionated and gave no f**ks about telling people they were wrong.

'Even though we butted heads because of this a few times, I always secretly respected you for it.'

Zayn famously left the band in 2015, and in 2016, he said he was 'the closest with Liam' when he was asked what his relationship with his former bandmates was like.

'I'm still probably the closest to Liam. We talk on the phone. He congratulated me on my single. Which was nice. I congratulated him on his Brit Award,' he said at the time.

Buenos Aires police said in a statement that Liam fell from the third floor of the Casa Sur Hotel in the trendy Palermo neighbourhood of Argentina's capital, resulting in 'extremely serious injuries.'

He and Zayn were two of five band members of One Direction, which formed in 2010 when they each auditioned for the British singing competition series The X Factor

After each singer failed to make it through the competition as solo acts, Simon Cowell and his fellow judges combined Liam, Zayn, Niall Horan, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson into what would become one of the most successful boy bands.

The band became known for their pop sound and romantic hits like What Makes You Beautiful, and boasted six Top 10 songs on the Billboard charts by the time they disbanded in 2016.

Liam shared a seven-year-old son, Bear Grey Payne, with his former girlfriend and Girls Aloud star Cheryl, and is also survived by his parents, Geoff and Karen Payne, and his two older sisters, Ruth and Nicola.

Last week, a hotel worker and a drug dealer were revealed as two of the three mystery men arrested over the death of Liam in Buenos Aires.

Police in Argentina believe they have uncovered drug dealing at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel where the star fell to his death from his suite's third-floor balcony on October 16.

A 21-year-old and a 24-year-old have been named by respected Argentine news website Infobae as two of the three arrested suspects.

They are accused of supplying Liam with drugs while a third suspect is under investigation for abandoning a person who subsequently died.

Prosecutors have made it clear that any idea that Liam had committed suicide had been ruled out and said he was in a state of 'semi or total unconsciousness' as he fell to his death when he 'didn't know what he was doing.'

Tests have shown the singer binged on alcohol and cocaine before he died and also had traces of an antidepressant in his system.
