2024 might be the year of the film adaptation. While the year has seen numerous highs and lows, adaptations seem to be at the heart of the 2024 release calendar. While children's films sequels such as Moana 2 and Inside Out 2 have dominated the box office, so too have adaptations like It Ends With Us and Wicked. The abundance of adaptations over original content is often a criticism of the state of Hollywood right now, but the 2024 box office has shown that these films still do well commercially.

This year has also seen a number of comic book adaptations. Most notably, this includes Deadpool & Wolverine, a Marvel Comics adaptation that features the now-canonized titular MCU characters. Not all comic adaptations are created equally, however, as this year's Madame Web bombed at the box office and among critics. This summer also saw the release of a non-MCU comic book movie that took inspiration from an earlier cult classic.

The Crow (1994) Is Getting A Streaming Release Date

And It Is Very Soon

The original movie The Crow is getting a streaming release date. Adapting the comic book series created by James O'Barr, the 1994 version of The Crow tells the story of Eric Draven and his fiancé, who get brutally murdered on their wedding night. Eric later rises up from the dead to take vengeance on those who killed him and his love. This version of The Crow starred Brandon Lee in the lead role, among a supporting cast that included Michael Wincott, Bai Ling, and Ernie Hudson. 2024 saw the release of a reimagining of The Crow, which was widely hated.

As per Collider, 1994's The Crow is now coming to streaming. The Crow will be arriving on Paramount+ tomorrow, January 1, 2025. The film is currently only able to watch via Pluto TV and to rent on Prime Video, so its Paramount+ availability will make it more readily accessible. The 2024 version of The Crow, on the other hand, is only available to rent on Prime Video.

Why You Should Watch The Crow On Paramount+

The Crow Is A Modern Classic

The Crow may be 30 years old, but it has more than stood the test of time. Its esthetics have become iconic and so untouchable enough that the 2024 reimagining of the comic book story was mocked for its lame reproduction of the former characters and iconography. Critics also appreciated the '90s version of The Crow, giving it a Certified Fresh 87% Tomatometer on Rotten Tomatoes. Audiences love the film even more so far, giving it a universally positive 90%. Though this year's version of the comic book may have been disappointing, audiences will not be let down by 1994's The Crow.
