Cody Simpson opens up about dating Kylie Jenner, Gigi Hadid and Miley Cyrus as he recalls falling in love for the first time

Cody Simpson has opened up about his love life, and his romantic entanglements with Kylie Jenner, Gigi Hadid and Miley Cyrus. 

The Australian singer, 29, recently found love with American influencer Adelia Clark, 32, just two weeks after his shock split from Olympic swimmer Emma McKeon was confirmed, and has now opened up about his dating history in a new interview. 

Cody has now revealed that after he moved to Los Angeles at the age of 13 to pursue his singing career, he soon bumped into future lip-kit mogul Kylie, who became his first girlfriend.

Speaking on Paul C Brunson’s We Need To Talk podcast, he revealed the pair 'bonded through being in unique situations' and dated for about 12-months. 

Recalling how he first met Kylie, he said: 'The Twilight 3 Premiere, as I remember it. Yeah. That's really funny.

'Kylie and I met, I was probably 15. She may have been 14 or 15. She's a tiny bit younger than I am, but I think her and Kendall were interviewing people on the red carpet. 

'They'd just started doing stuff because their sisters were super successful and they'd just started doing stuff in the public eye, they had the show going on, and they'd started to be on the show. 

'And they were interviewing people on the Twilight premiere red carpet. And I went and I took my sister to the premiere because she loved Twilight. 

'I think I asked Kylie for a number there or something, like we exchanged numbers and we started talking. It was young. I took her to the movies and we dated for about a year and I think we just bonded through being in these unique situations.'

He continued: 'So it was nice. I think it's just nice to relate to somebody at that age in that world. I'm like in High School, what am I supposed to do, I don't have a school with girls, like my school was Hollywood in a way, because I was homeschooled.

'So the only way I could meet people was literally at the Twilight premiere or at one of my shows, but that's a weird place to try it. So there are very few places in which I could socially be a kid, be a young dude trying to date, trying to kiss girls'.

Cody went on to date supermodel Gigi, who was just starting out her modelling career as she landed a billboard for Guess and caught the singer's eye. 

The Australian star revealed Gigi 'was my first love' as they dated for two years after he came up with an elaborate plan to ask her out.

He explained: 'I was at the mall with my friend at the time. I would have just turned 16 or something. She had just done her first billboard for Guess. She was a couple years older than I was. 

'I think she's maybe two or three years older than I am. So she was maybe 18, I was 16, so I thought she was like the hot older girl.

'But we were just walking through the shopping centre, I asked my buddy, "Who's that?" And he was, "That's Gigi". And I'm like, "Do you know Gigi" and he's like, "Yeah, I can give you her number if you want", I'm like okay, I'll take it. 

'So this is going to sound so stupid, but I cold called her. And I said, "Hey, it's Cody, I'm a musician. I'm doing this music video. I was just calling to ask if you want to be in it."

'There was no music video. No plans for a video, the videos have all been shot and this was like right around, I was doing my second album. So I'm like, I'm shooting this video, I'd love to try and get you in this video. 

'I'm pretty sure I pitched her this whole concept that didn't exist and she goes, "yeah, okay". And I think that just broke the ice. So I started texting her and I'm like "ah I don't think the video is going to happen anymore, but like, do you want to catch up? Do you want to go out for food or whatever?"' 

'And I just got in my first car, and I'm feeling like the man, you know. And I couldn't even legally drive by myself at the time, but I think I went, picked her up and we hung out.

'It was kind of like she was my first love, man… We were together for, on and off, about two years, but we started hanging out and a couple weeks later, she came on tour with me, and we again, it was a similar thing in that we bonded through her family, she came from a very, very interesting family. 

'Her stepdad at the time was David Foster, an incredible music producer, who at the time I don't think I appreciated enough then having that relationship with him.

'He came into the studio and he's like, you know, he discovered Michael Bublé, he's really big in jazz and all that stuff, which I love now.'

The pair dated from 2013 to 2015, citing their demanding schedules and time spent living apart as the main reason for their breakup. 

A few years later, Cody went on to date Disney actress and singer Miley as the pair bonded over 'rebelling from being in teen pop stardom'.

The pair had been close friends for years before their relationship turned romantic following Miley's split from Liam Hemsworth. 

Cody told Paul: '[Miley and I] did all Covid lockdown and everything together. But we met back when I was 18. 

'We used to go and party together and hang out, and we just always had a lot in common and she did one of my album artworks for my song. It was called Flower. 

'So it was like I think we connected and bonded through in a way, rebelling from being in that teen pop stardom thing.'

Cody continued: 'She obviously rebelled very publicly from that over the years and went through certain things. And I think when I started to go through that, she came into my life, and helped me navigate it in some ways. 

'When I went independent and started doing a more singer songwriter thing, I was a downright hippie for a couple of years, and she was just like my friend during that period. 

'And then we lost touch for a few years. And then, when we were a little bit older and I guess more mature we started talking again and at that time it turned into something else. 

'And again, it's one of those things. It was very much, we were very much meant to be together at that time, we were both sober and in very different places to what, you know, we were when we were friends back in the day.'

Most recently, Cody appears to have found new romance just two weeks after his shock split from Olympic swimmer Emma was confirmed. 

The Australian singer was spotted strolling arm-in-arm with American influencer Adelia outside a cafe in Los Angeles on Sunday.

Cody's sister Alli confirmed the rumours they had split late last year on The Morning Show, saying her brother and the Olympic athlete had 'moved on' from one another.  

'She is like sunshine in human form, so I'm just so happy they can move forward,' Alli said.

While Alli did not share a reason for the split, she explained the pair, who began dating in April 2022, want privacy as they navigate the future.

'I don't want to speak for either of them, this is their private time and their business and I love them both dearly,' she said.

The couple, who began dating in April 2022, sparked breakup speculation after it appeared as if they were living increasingly separate lives.

Cody and Emma were last pictured together at a public event in December, when Emma attended the launch of a watch collection as an ambassador for Omega.
