At 95 years old, Clint Eastwood is the Hollywood all-star who just keeps on ticking. Few have had as long of a run in the industry as him, especially while staying relevant, building on top of his already incredible legacy, and having very few misses along the way. The celebrity is one of the most revered in the biz, not just as an actor but also as a director and producer. Essentially, to many, if Eastwood’s name is attached, it’s an instant classic. And, even though his latest helming project, Juror #2, was said to be the last of his career, we wouldn’t be shocked if Eastwood simply can’t stay away from the business down the line.

When picturing the actor, many would say they see Eastwood in their memory with a cowboy hat thanks to his contributions to the Western genre. Whether it’s a title from the Man with No Name trilogy or one like The Outlaw Josey Wales or Unforgiven, anyone who’s a fan of the genre has a favorite Eastwood flick. If it isn’t a Western, your mind likely jumps to wartime flicks, with his movies such as Heartbreak Ridge, Flags of Our Fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima leaving a mark on the world and how we view the ultimate sacrifice made by so many.

Outside of Westerns and war films, Eastwood has crossed over to multiple other genres, but it’s with his historical thriller, Escape from Alcatraz, that audiences will have the chance to stream completely free of charge next month. Based on J. Campbell Bruce’s 1963 non-fiction novel of the same name, the high-octane Don Siegel-directed flick is set to join the ever expansive catalog at Tubi on March 1. This one has it all: Eastwood in his gritty glory mixed with a based-on-true story that captures one of the most infamous prison escapes in history. The movie centers around Eastwood’s Frank Lee Morris as he and a group of fellow inmates attempt to break out of the highly guarded titular penitentiary.

Who Else Stars in ‘Escape From Alcatraz’

First released into cinemas in 1979, Escape from Alcatraz didn’t just feature Eastwood in the leading role, but also boasted an all-star cast that included Danny Glover (Lethal Weapon) in his breakthrough role. Filling out the rest of the ensemble cast is a lineup that features the talents of Patrick McGoohan (Mary, Queen of Scots), Jack Thibeau (Sudden Impact), Larry Hankin (Billy Madison) and Fred Ward (Tremors).

Head over to Tubi on March 1 to see Eastwood bust out of prison in Escape from Alcatraz.
