Christy Carlson Romano has given fans an update on her birdshot wound, more than one year after she was shot in the face by a stray projectile.
The 42-year-old former child star told Fox News Digital, 'I was peppered with birdshot at about 250 feet away, and I was struck in a fat pocket under my eye and also in my forehead. I still have birdshot behind my eye about a millimeter away from anything critical.'
She noted that her condition is precarious as she added, 'If it were to move, I would go blind. So, we’re hoping that doesn’t happen.'
Elsewhere in the conversation with the outlet, she said, 'I, at one point, thought that I was going to die.
The freak accident occurred while Romano was celebrating husband Brendan Rooney's birthday. The couple shares daughters Isabella, nine, and Sophia, seven.
'When you have children, you can’t help but start to see the world completely differently after an accident like that,' the mom said.

Romano, who rose to fame on the Disney Channel sitcom Even Stevens, said she's grateful that the situation did not turn out worse.
'My oculoplastic surgeon had said that, usually, he’s taking people’s eyes out, kids, because they’ve been shot with a Nerf gun.
'It just so happened to hit the right fat pocket right under the eye. And I really almost survived through a miracle because I think there was any amount of outcomes when it came to having birdshot striking my skull and my face.'
The actress-turned-author goes into further detail about the accident and its aftermath in her newly published memoir memoir Once Upon a Trainwreck: The Fall and Rise of a Child Star.
Earlier this month, she posted a photo of herself being tended to by a doctor on Instagram and wrote, 'This was the night I got shot.'
She continued, 'Five months later, I sat in the Amen Clinic and saw a scan of my brain for the first time. I expected to see the concussion from the shooting. I didn’t expect everything else to light up too.'
The star named PTSD, depression, and ADHD and shared a medical scan showing the conditions in her brain.
'All of it was right there on the screen, and none of it started that night. For most of my life I thought something was wrong with me,' she wrote.
'It turns out a lot of things happened to me. I am not broken. I am healing, and I have never been more present with my girls, my husband, and myself. I wrote about how I got here, the hard parts and the way through.'

Romano previously opened up to People magazine about the harrowing incident, telling the magazine, 'It has definitely taught me how to appreciate life.
'The birdshot is one millimeter from anything critical in my eye, which is a pencil tip away, and the fact that I have this birdshot, not just behind my eye, but it’s also in my forehead, and every now and then, I blink, and I’m like, "Wait a minute, there’s something in there."'
She called her survival 'a medical miracle.'
Earlier in October, Romano claimed she was only paid half of co-star Shia LaBeouf's salary while working for Disney.
She was 16 years old when their show Even Stevens premiered, and was prominently featured beside LaBeouf in promotional posters for the project.
She took to Instagram to reveal that despite being 'co-leads' with the 'same screen time,' LaBeouf earned twice more than her.
She affixed a letter her mother Sharon allegedly wrote to her agent in September 2000, claiming Romano made $6,000 an episode while LaBeouf was paid $12,000.
In her caption, Romano clarified that she felt LaBeouf 'earned every dollar' of his wage, but noted her own family was 'deeply in debt' at the time.
'By then, my paycheck was keeping us afloat. My mom was fighting for me, and she was also fighting for a household that depended on a teenage girl,' she wrote to her 857,000 followers.
'It took me years to understand I could love her for advocating for me and still wish I had gotten to just be a kid,' she confessed.
