Chris Pratt, Glen Powell, and more star in this fantasy hit that is coming to Netflix soon.
Pratt's list of movies features quite a few genre releases, with the actor playing a key role in some of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's best movies. The MCU is a franchise that is filled with sci-fi elements, as Pratt knows well from starring in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, and fantasy elements. As for Powell, the actor recently appeared in a dystopian sci-fi movie in the form of Edgar Wright's The Running Man, an adaptation of the Stephen King novel. 2026's theatrical slate united the two actors in an animated fantasy movie that will now arrive on Netflix next month.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will be released on Netflix on November 30. The 2026 release is a sequel to the animated mega hit that was Pratt's first movie as Mario, 2023's The Super Mario Bros. Movie. The project is one of the many new movies and TV shows coming to Netflix in November. Alongside The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, the streaming service will also see the arrival of films like Jon Bernthal's star-studded war movie Fury, Paul W.S. Anderson’s 2002 Resident Evil, Brendan Fraser's adventure classic The Mummy, the Colleen Hoover adaptation Reminders of Him, and many more.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie became a massive box office hit following its theatrical release on April 1. Based on its reported budget of $110 million, the animated video game adaptation had to finish its global theatrical run between $220 million and $275 million to break even. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie easily left that mark behind, going on to amass a whopping $1.013 billion worldwide. While the sequel came in a little lower than The Super Mario Bros. Movie's $1.360 billion gross, it was still a major hit, with plans for a third movie moving forward to continue the franchise.
Pratt returned to voice the title character in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, doing so with a star-studded cast of returning stars and new additions to the fantasy franchise. One of those was Powell, who has become one of Hollywood's most in-demand actors after his breakout role as the daring pilot Hangman in Tom Cruise's Top Gun: Maverick. Powell played a somewhat similar role in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, voicing Fox McCloud, aka the lead of Nintendo's Star Fox video game franchise.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie's cast also features actors like Anya Taylor-Joy, Jack Black, Charlie Day, Donald Glover, Brie Larson, and many more. As for the future of the franchise, while it has yet to be officially announced, Toad actor Keegan-Michael Key did confirm to ScreenRant that a third Mario movie is on the way with a planned 2029 theatrical release. Before that happens, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will start streaming on Netflix at the end of November, and there is a good chance that the Pratt and Powell fantasy movie will go on to become a streaming hit.
