Chloe Fineman names SNL co-star who made her cry as she speaks out about her shock departure from iconic sketch show

Amid her recently announced shock exit from Saturday Night Live (SNL), Chloe Fineman has opened up about her time on the sketch show. 

The 38-year-old actress revealed one of her co-stars brought her to tears with an unexpected gesture, before insisting there's no bad blood with anyone behind the scenes. 

As she marked her birthday on Monday, she told The Hollywood Reporter (THR) that Colin Jost, 44, called her to send well wishes and 'I fully cried.' 

Fineman explained, 'Everyone's, like, really reaching out. It's the sweetest show. It's a hard show, but the people – it’s because of [the demanding] hours and everything. But it really is a family, and I've been crying like, sweet tears.'

The told the outlet while at Monday's premiere of her new series The Dink: 'I'm really proud of everything, but it's hard. I'm genuinely really good friends with everybody, and I genuinely couldn't love that job more. 

'So it's really bittersweet, but I'm [still] gonna be in New York. I'm down the street. Maybe you'll see me.'

Last week Fineman took to Instagram to announce her departure from the long-running late night series.

'After 7 wonderful seasons at SNL I have decided it’s time for my next chapter,' she wrote to her 1.3 million followers.

She added, 'It’s cliche to say this but working at SNL has been the greatest privilege of my life. I still can’t really believe I got to be a part of it. I fell in love with the place the second I walked through the door.'

Addressing the show's 81-year-old creator Lorne Michaels directly, she added, 'Lorne (if you’re reading this on your burner account) I want you to know that I am forever in your debt.'

The star reminisced, 'Every day I was lucky enough to be surrounded by the best people in the business, and I was constantly amazed watching them work. 

'Sewing a jojo Siwa costume in 10 hours. Writing a cold open at 2pm on a Saturday. Finishing the VFX of a video minutes before dress (I don’t know if “finishing VFX” is the right technical term but you get the idea).'

Fineman also reflected while speaking to THR, 'Seven years is kind of like the classic way [at SNL], and then right as my contract was up, this amazing David E. Kelley opportunity came in, like completely out of the blue. 

'I did a little chemistry read and it was off to the races; it just felt like a perfect time.'

The opportunity she referred to is the upcoming Netflix drama Myron Molitar, which she will begin filming this week.

She said the thing she's looking forward to about the new gig is 'just stretching the TV wings.'

'And like who better than David E. Kelley? And I’m really excited to watch SNL as an audience member [in person], which I’ve never done,' the comedian noted.

She will star alongside Jake Johnson in sports comedy film The Dink, premiering on AppleTV+ on July 24.
