Chevy Chase shared a sweet photo of himself jubilantly hugging his baby granddaughter on Monday.
Plenty of fans were charmed by the sweet display on Instagram, but others shared their concern in the comments section, as the 81-year-old Vacation star was sporting a massive black eye in the photo.
He didn't bother to explain the dark bruising, which looked fairly fresh, and some fans joked in the comments that he had been 'hiking with Jay Leno,' after the former Tonight Show host reportedly fell down a hill outside his hotel, which left half his face covered in dark bruise and required him to initially wear an eye patch.
That incident followed an earlier accident in which Leno had been severely burned while working on his classic cars in his garage, though luckily he seems to have made a full recovery from both scary incidents.
Chevy's representative calmed fans down later in the day when they clarified to TMZ that all was well with the former Saturday Night Live star.

But they quickly got serious and clarified that he had 'just bumped his head in his hotel room rushing for a meeting,' though the actor hasn't commented on the incident personally.
Chevy's photo showed him beaming widely as he sat on a photo and wrapped his granddaughter Ivy Jay Baglieri in a warm embrace.
Ivy is the daughter of his youngest daughter Emily Chase, 36, and her partner Alex Baglieri. Chevy shares Emily with his third wife, Jayni Chase, whom he married in 1982.
'@em_chases and @alex.baglieri brought my beautiful granddaughter over,' Chevy wrote, concluding with a risqué joke. 'Check out her fanny! ❤️.'
Back in March, Chevy joyously announced that he was about to be a grandfather after Emily revealed her pregnancy.
But the comments were filled with people who only noticed his black eye.
'Someone has been hiking with Leno,' joked one fan, while others poked fun at the older comic stars and their recent injuries.
'Did that little baby just beat up Chevy?' joked another commenter. 'Blink twice if you need help Chevy.'
But Chevy's rep clarified that he had 'just bumped his head in his hotel room rushing for a meeting'

It was a reference to National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989), in which Cousin Eddie (Randy Quaid) empties his RV's toilet into Chevy's character Clark Griswold's sewer, and explains that his 's****er was full.'
