Charli xcx has revealed her new song Wink Wink is a pointed message to her exes that she's found her 'perfect man' in her husband George Daniel.
Charli, 34, married The 1975 musician, 36, in July 2025 in an intimate ceremony at Hackney Town Hall in London before going on to enjoy a larger wedding celebration in Sicily in September.
Appearing on a special BBC episode, hosted by DJ Jack Saunders, Charli broke down her seventh album Music, Fashion, Film.
Speaking about the meaning behind Wink Wink, she said: 'I think it’s actually about romantic relationships and, in the past, having maybe been a bit misunderstood by previous partners and having felt the pressure of wanting to become what they wanted me to be.
'Whereas now being with George, who I know you play football with, like he gets it and he gets me and it’s sort of you know, it’s like a different thing and so this song, in a way, is kind of me talking to my previous partners being like "yeah sure I’m this perfect person now wink wink" whereas in reality who is perfect, you know? No one.'

Before finding love with George, Charli had an on-and-off relationship for seven years with producer Huck Kwong. They split in 2022.
She was also linked to Royal Blood frontman Mike Kerr.
In her latest music video, the pop star lay in a field before a gust of wind blew her skirt up to unveil her pink underwear.
Things turned up a notch with scenes showing Charli simulating a solo sex act before covering her breasts in soap and pressing them against a window.
She later rubbed the soap on her bottom, which she flashes multiple times throughout the music video.
Along with shots of Charli in suggestive positions, the star rolled around in mud and sprayed whipped cream into her mouth.
Elsewhere in the interview, Charli spoke about her song 2007.
She said: 'The song itself is about making TikToks, because it’s like everyone can be a star from their bedroom, which is sort of what I talk about in the song and I think that’s fabulous! Like it’s so Warholian in a way.
'You know everybody can kind of have this moment where they blow up on TikTok because they’ve done a cool dance or a really aesthetically pleasing video or whatever it may be and I think that’s really fun and creative.'

Charli also revealed her guilty pleasure is watching Love Island.
She said: 'I can’t just go home and unplug and be like a different person... apart from when I’m watching Love Island I will say. Like that is my one time where I’m like "oh, I’m actually off now", I’m not thinking about like fonts or whatever. So, thanks for that.'
