The heartbreaking story behind Chad Michael Murray's good looks has stunned netizens unaware of his harrowing past.
The Hollywood hunk was just 18 when he survived a random attack by 'three guys' at a Burger King in an incident that caused serious damage to his nose.
He underwent surgery at the Los Angeles hospital Cedar Sinai but faced nose job speculation afterwards, chatter he resented.
'I got jumped in a Burger King when I was 18 and had my nose put on the other side of my face. It was three guys - what the hell was I supposed to do?' he told Entertainment Weekly in 2004.
'The doctors didn’t even bother running X-rays. They just reset it. But it wasn’t a nose job - I hate the fact that people say it was a nose job!'
Now the story has gained traction online after being resurfaced by fans - with several shocked the actor looks 'even better' after the terrifying incident.

One Redditor dedicated a thread to the story: 'he got jumped at burger king and his nose was broken in the process. he had to get his nose surgically reset. imagine getting jumped and you come out looking better lol.'
One responded: 'His nose looked better before, but the new one made his face more distinct. Must have been disappointing for him at first though, it's quite the change to his face.'
X users were also astonished by the story.
'Imagine getting your face broken and looking even better afterwards,' one tweeted.
'He should highkey thank them because he really went from any Brandon from the Midwest to THAT!' one posted.
'He took a hit and still looked like that,' another wrote.
One TikToker wrote: 'I cannot believe it! He will always be handsome but that broken nose changed the trajectory of his LIFE.'
While Murray can attribute his fame in part to his good looks, he has admitted to being 'uncomfortable' in his own skin early in his career.
'I was terrified, and so I put on this brave face. You're 21, 22, 23, 24 years old, right? You think you're something because people tell you you're something. So you see other people that you go, "OK, well, that person's cool. OK, they're not smiling,"' he told Newsweek last year.
'I don't like my smile. I can't stand my smile, so I'm not going to smile. I don't want to show my teeth because I'm uncomfortable about it.
'I don't like my nose because it's not my nose. I got jumped in a Burger King and my nose surgery was a couple posts, pop it back into place, hold two tennis balls at Cedar Sinai, and there you go.

The actor is now famed for his hunky good looks
Netizens were in disbelief that Murray looked 'even better' after the attack led to surgery on his nose
'And there was a lot of things, I was just uncomfortable. You're uncomfortable in your skin. And I think it's not just if you're an actor, it's everybody. Like our 20s are fricking hard, man.
'And the 20s are for screwing up, figuring out who you are, and then you go into your 30s, and 30s are awesome. I mean, for me anyway, I thought it was an awesome decade.'
Murray has had a harrowing past that includes overcoming a life-threatening health battle that left him in the hospital for over two months.
The actor previously revealed he was just 15 when he lost '50 percent' of the blood in his body and was 'on [his] deathbed.'
During an appearance on the Great Company podcast, he told host Jamie Laing that he was in the hospital for two and a half months.
He explained that his intestines became twisted, and he was suffering from internal bleeding.
He said he didn't remember much from that experience as he was going 'in and out of consciousness' and had to undergo emergency surgery multiple times.

And at one point during his near-death, teenage experience, the Freakier Friday star said that he saw his father talking to a priest about last rites at one point before his nurse gave him a blood transfusion to save his life.
He explained that his organs shut down because the blood coagulated around them and he had to undergo a second surgery to 'clean up' around them.
The actor added that during those weeks in the hospital, his weight had dropped from 180lbs to 118lbs.
He also recalled the names of the nurses who saved his life — Sandy, who gave him a blood transfusion, and Alana, who was a model.
Murray said that the latter nurse told him to become a model first to 'segue' into his acting dreams — and even followed through on her promise to introduce him to a modeling company when he got out of the hospital.
About the conversation that got him into Hollywood, he recalled: 'Alana says to me, "Oh gosh, you should model." I was like, "I don't want to model. I want to be an actor. Like, I love film and television. I want to give this gift to other people."
'And she's like, "Well, you can segue from modeling into acting. Look, when you get out, I'm hooking you up with this modeling company I know." And she meant it.'
A few years after making his recovery, he made his big break and started landing major roles in hit teen dramas.
